What kind of racing helmet?

Hey guys just wanted to see if anyone had any inputs about which racing helmet would be suitable for me...i need one that falls within the guidelines for racing. I cant remember what type but it has to be full face racing for cars.

Is there one that anyone has that isnt too expensive? im not trying to spend over $500 for a helmet as i only plan on track maybe 2 times a year. oh and im looking for one that will work for almost all the tracks that i go to.

I didn't wanna spend too much money:
http://www.winecountrymotorsports.co...oducts_id=1019

I can't complain so far, and without having tried anything else long term, I can't imagine why I'd spend more than double or triple this for something that basically does the same thing IMO.

one of these

I like either Simpson or Bell. I've worn both. I prefer the Simpson brand. It seems to be a little more comfortable. If you're really serious and have to wear fire protection, make sure your helmet has Nomex lining. Even if you don't have to wear total fire protection, it is a great asset. A little warm, but the fire is wayyyy hotter.

Zamp makes decent and very cheap helmets. You can get a full face snell 2010 for like 170. Check it out

The helmet requirements are pretty standard, any DOT approved helmet suffices. Even motorcycle helmets meet the requirements, I prefer full face as opposed to open for the additional safety. Try them on in person, comfort, fit and visibility are most important.

depends on the shape of your head/face... zamp didn't fit well for me... You must try them on or if purchasing online order multiple sizes/styles and return the ones you don't want... ask me how i know...

I have this one:
http://www.saferacer.com/hjc-motorsp...productid=2209
Works great.

Some track events and/or tracks rent or borrow helmets - consider doing that your first time if you can, you'll at least get to try a helmet for little to no cost.

What's the rationale ? On a bike, its pretty obvious, but in a car with straps, there are no chance you'll eat tarmak. I don't get it.

Fun Video, good reflexes from the driver!

I was thinking of getting a Nolan N42E for mixed duty (I want a fullface for motorcycle, I want something more breathable for car duty).
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...om-Helmet.aspx

Its rated fullface for ECE-2205 (you won't make me ride with an open face, having a face that makes children cry is not for me ), but the chinbar is removable, and it has the largest viewport available on the market at the moment. Only drawback its not Snell and some tracks require it, I've heard (?)

Pyrotec is good as well. You can use open face if you have airbags.

I bought a 1320 helmet from Impact Racing this year. Fits extremely well and is very comfortable.

well im not going to track often so i just went ahead and got that cheaper one for $150 and it seems to be pretty nice and fits well...i got the xl just in case cause i dont like having things too tight around my head...

but for everyone out there if your head size is 7 1/2 then you should get the large instead of xl because i feel like its just ever so slightly too big for me. my head doesnt shake around it in but its not the tight fit over your head either.
