Frozen solid
Hey guys. Looking for advice. I'm located in Canada and we're experiencing a deep freeze. I left my 2007 328xi parked outside for a few days and when I tried starting the car it wouldn't start. I used my battery pack to boost it and it was successful. It started the next day but the day after that it died. I tried boosting it again and the temperature has just been getting colder. This time it wouldn't start nor does it attempt to catch. The steering light with the lock appeared and won't let the car go into neutral and when the tow truck came he couldn't get it on the flat bed as a result. I called my local BMW dealership and they said to have it dragged with the locked wheels onto the flatbed. Worst suggestion I've ever heard!

Is it an AT? If so, there should be a small switch located under the shifter cover leather boot. Pop it out and depress the switch, then you should be able to move the shifter into N.

Quick question. How do I pop the casing open properly flat head screw driver? I don't want to damage or scratch it. It doesn't look like there is a real entry point.

Edit - found a pic here http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/9373/img9914i.jpg You can see where the tabs are, just pull the leather to the center to release the tabs. |

If I remember correctly, I didn't have to pry the boot off with anything. It kind of popped off when I grabbed it by the leather and pulled.

+1 on moving, but not to Houston, it gets to 120 w/ 100% humidity. Come on out to SoCal, never hot on the water or freezing in the winter.

Yeah that does sound better but the 10% income tax doesn't.
