Coolant Temperature

The coolant temperature was running at 106 Celsius (223 Fahrenheit) after about 45 minutes of highway driving including some traffic jam. Is this about the normal temperature? I'm noticing a loss in coolant (when I open the coolant reservoir I have to fill a little more). So wondering if car may not be cooling properly.

Oil temperature can get us hot as 240 Fahrenheit.

What is your oil coolant temp?

These cars run 230-240 on cool days and 250-260 pushing them in traffic or racing around on a hot day on the oil.

Not sure about coolant, I haven't got into the menu too look.

About 240 in the dashboard oil gauge (just below midline)

They also run hot with coolant. That's about normal, if not on the low side, for stop & go traffic. It's my understanding that BMW throttles waterpump speed to help keep the engine hot & efficient (think emissions/etc, not performance).

240 *f oil temp and 230 *f in stop and go traffic is about right.. Once car gets moving coolant seems to drop to 210 *f
