Radar Detector

Thinking about getting one, but wondering what people would think about it. I am in a conservative industry and sometimes have customers in my car. Would they think I am a DB? Just wondering what type of reputation you are buying with a detector.

Don't waste your money, buy a Valentine 1 or nothing at all.

Thanks. Have one picked, but now wonder how they are perceived. Had one when I was younger...think I may be too old/conservative now.

You need to stop caring about what people think. If you speed... buy one, if you care what customers think, get speeding tickets or drive the speed limit. Valentine 1 and Passports are usually a safe a bet.

Well, just tuck it into the door when you have clients on board.

Personally? I don't give a sh#t what other people think. But then again I don't need to drive anyone around

I alway hide mine when I park anyways...

There are a number of threads talking about this here on e90post.

I have had three Escort detectors, and am very happy with them. Currently have the 9500ix.

If you're worried about your passengers seeing it, you could always get one installed where the display is on your dashboard. Much more pricey.

get a Val 1 which is small and put on the drivers side of the rear view mirror. they wont notice unless they are looking and it is really easy to turn volume down without being obvious

OK, this thread was not supposed to be a v1 escort pissing match. I highly recommend the escort and have no reason to change...saved my ass many times.

Not sure about the brand you are looking for but if you do a custom install it could be very stealth...even to go so far to have the display in your ashtray area that you could close to hide.

However, I wouldn't hide it. Your clients won't care and your peers shouldn't. Be honest but respectful about who you are...it will be appreciated....don't apologize.

Will just do a custom install. Need to care what people think, despite advice from this forum. Sometimes your reputation is worth more than you like to admit, especially when you have clients and employees who count on ou.

people who notice it generally ask a lot of questions about it and get excited to see it work, when they see it work they are shocked!

Interesting, I never thought owning a Radar Detector would make one think your a DB.

I would imagine if someone thinks your a DB for having a radar detector, they probably think your a bigger DB because of the car you drive.
