335d: almost no wheel spin even w/ full throttle! Potenza?

Hi,

I don’t feel my 335d 286 as powerful as I expected and I could use some benchmark.

For instance, with traction control off and full throttle acceleration like any 0-60 try run I would expect significant wheel spin from the 286hp and almost 580nm, but no… It pulls away hard but the tires remain quite glued to the tarmac.

Are the Potenza re050a 255/30 R19 that good or do I’ve an anemic engine?

thanks in advance.

most cars just flooring it doesn't give off tire spin, maybe a slight screech. my winters do skid a bit if i floor it like that. brake stand you'll see what happens....

Is your car a manual or automatic trans? You'll have to get the revs up in order to do a smokey launch. You can't just take off from idle and do a 'burnout', even at full throttle.

It's automatic trans and yes… the rpm don’t really go sky-high in D or in sport manual option, but even @ 2.500 – 3.000rpm I expected it to put more power to the wheels.

On the other hand it maybe just because my comparison data is my previous 535d which it quite heavier but I had it remaped to 320hp!

Electronic nannies prevent that in 1st gear. I don't think it even gets to full boost in 1st.

If you want to do a hard launch with some wheelspin, put it in M2 and then brake-torque it.

The 335d pulls like crazy, but there is a tiny bit of lag off the line. As said above, you'll probably want an M2 brake-torque launch to get any wheel spin. And even that is minimal with good tires.

6MT is available in other regions.

Also, for wheel spin, can you not hold the brake as you apply throttle? I believe that this is what this guy, as well as the the Duke Boys, did:

As mentioned previously, put in M2 or even DS mode, turn off all traction control/stability control, brake torque to 2100, release the brake and mash the gas peddle.... It will spin and spin good.

335d is not a 0-60 fast car! its more a highway killer
try re-map it and you'll see the difference ( it kills that tiny lag and add more torque and more response)

No... BMW doesn't sell a manual transmission 335d anywhere in the world.

Europe does have a 330d available with a manual, but it's a bit lower in HP and torque, and has one turbo vs. the two sequential turbos the 335d has.

i think the pcm wont allow 425ftlbs of torque at 1700rpm cause transmission/drivetrain not strong enough....wonder if a good tune would allow full power off the line and spin the tire like 425ftlbs would????????
