you know these alloys are famed for cracking on the inside edge ?

Rumor is it's to do with the side wall stiffness of run flats, but either way worth being aware of this point. FWIW I have these on my 08 E91 (they are called m-spider style 193 I believe) and the dealer had to replace a cracked one under warranty.

Regarding the cracks on the inside edge, how is it possible to know if the alloy is cracked ?, by the naked eye or NDT inspection ?

The information on the cracking is new to myself so I am interested on how the observations were first discovered ?

Do you have any pictures on this issue ?

The crack should loose pressure, taking them off for a good clean inside and out will probably show a crack, or pumping them up higher than you'd run them and spraying soapy water on them, same as a slow puncture.

Strange you should mention that last week I had my tire pressures checked, the fitter was not happy so he removed one of the rear wheels and placed it in a tub of water. On one area there was some bubbles, he cracked the tire from the rim and applied some grease. After checking again it appeared ok.

As of now the screen display is reading ok

Thanks for that lead, I now need to do a currency conversion and check what will be the difference in cost if I make the purchase over here.

The cost of these cars and parts is very high in Thailand compared to the UK, and this is despite the fact that the 320 is assembled here.

Monger007,

not for a moment suggesting alloywheelsdirect are the cheapest UK source. Was merely trying to balance the rather inflated price quoted by "cupraraj" in post 2 above.

Good luck with your project.

Yes the post 2 quote is way to high for this particular rims.

Regarding this cracking issue that I do not have knowledge of, would this be related to this particular type of design, or are we looking at various BMW rims that are fitted with the RFT.

Thanks for the pictures, its very interesting for me to learn on these issues.

I will need to check with the dealer if they cover the rims in the 5 year BSI.
In Thailand they try and worm there way out of everything, I do not have any friends here who have the same model so I am pulling a lot of good information here on the forum.

i thought OP was asking dealer price. i highly doubt dealer price with tyres will be less than 2-2500.
