Need brakes....and advice.

Hey Guys...

I need F/R pads, and rotors for the front as well. Dealer quoted me something around $800 for the above parts and labor. Looking at dropping that kind of coin, I was thinking of getting something other than OEM....perhaps something more aggressive like slotted rotors.

With that said, I will admit that I really like the way my OE pads grab and don't fade....and I don't exactly want to sacrifice stopping power.

Any advice or input is appreciated!!

Thanks.

I went from stock equipment to Stoptech cross drilled Cryo rotors and Hawks HPS pads. I will not go back.

Ordered from Tirerack
$90 per rotor
$140 for full set of pads

You could always just get the rotors and stick to OEM pads. They would work just fine.

I just responded to a similar post so I'll quote myself. Haha!

The pads are similar to OEM as far as stopping, but have good bite once they are warmed up. Also they are virtually dustless. Which coming from OEM pads is worth the upgrade. The rotors look great and are a very nice aesthetic upgrade.

The rotors from http://brakeperformance.com/ come with free pads (or can upgrade for $40 a set). I was warned against their free pads from a fellow member so that is why I went with Akebono's. I don't think there is any verdict on their upgraded pads, so if you're willing to try them you can save yourself some money. But there is that risk that they could be sub par. If you choose to go with ceramic pads what is important is that rotors are designed for ceramic pads, otherwise the rotors will typically wear faster.

Hello man !

If you need brakes, choose the formula big brakes APracing, there are in 6 pistons for front 365mm front disc et 4 pistons on rear on OEM disc

But there is on front disc in 380mm just for wheels in 19" or bigger ;-)

I have this on my 335i and I love the feeling

They are a little lighter on the initial bite which I wanted. I hated slow stop and go with the stock pads. They felt like they would stick. Medium to hard breaking is excellent. Better than stock in my opinion.

i recently ordered custom slotted rotors from R1 concepts (although you could just go with the normal slots) and some ebc redstuff pads from ECS. total cost me around 800$ as well

Are you going for looks or performance? Cross drilled/slotted are just for looks, and they do look cool and have that "race aggressive look"

Spend your money in good set of pads.

If you want performance rotors and you think you need it go with ceramic rotors, mind you they usually "look" normal and are not drilled or slotted.

Good advice. Really looking for suggestions in the pads dept. as well. Anything out there that bites and holds as good as OE?
