2006 325i overheating
I have a 06 325i that is overheating for some reason. I went into the secret menu and the temperature goes up to 117 degrees Celsius. Coolant level is good, fans are working , etc. I checked the top hose as some have suggested and the top hose gets hot and the heater still blows hot. I'm thinking its it water pump or thermostat but is there some way to know if it's one of these without replacing them first? Thanks in advance. I know that OBD2 readers won't show the codes and I don't know anyone with a BMW scanner.

Try searching on here for the venting procedure. If the pump is still working you should hear it wrrrrrrr.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger
