Exactly. I have a paint booger at the top end of my hood. Very small, but I know it's there. Soon there will be chips from stones, etc.

I have a hair like partical, very small on my hood. A small dimple like spot on my trunk too. Nothing that can be seen though unless you face it 10 inches from it. The trunk can be seen in the right light though. Chris

Last night I was reading this post and thought myself lucky to not have any problems. This morning when walking back to my parked silver 330, I noticed a blemish in the front passenger door's lower right corner. It looks like a half circle ring worm like defect. Looks like something stuck to the door before it was painted. It's about 1.75 inches long, about as wide as an earth worm, and curved like an arch. Sits right there at the corner of the door near front fender and rocker pannel.

I am in complete shock. I didn't notice it at delivery a week ago. Only noticed it in full sun today. The good news is that it's not real noticeable, and only is when in full sun. But I am pissed! What the f#$k is this BMW?

Can't decide if I should risk having it repaired, or just live with it.

It's funny you mentioned this. I just found a spot that you described in the beginning on my door of my new e90 330i. About the size of a pin head, but definetly sticks up above the paint. Very small, but disappointing considering I watched many short videos on BMW's care in their paint process. Shouldn't happen.

Consider yourself lucky! A pin head is nothing! You are good to go!

A 2 cm emu feather left in the paint is in my books very 'shoddy quality'.After all's said and done, at the end of 5 yrs financing, this car is going to cost me ~51k. That may be chump change in your books but not mine. When I spend that much money on a car, I DO expect a perfect paint job. We are not talking about a new technology here, painting cars is a well matured technology. Why is BMW having troubles with it?
Before we switched to BMW in early 2004, we had 14 Mercedes-Benzes.....and EVERY one had a paint defect. Yeah, it was minor, but EVERY one either had a fleck of dust under the clear coat, and a glob of clear coat running down or around a wheel well. I think in general, BMW offers the highest quality paint jobs of all manufactured cars.
