30K service

Just hit 30K miles....that too in about a year!!! I thought this was gonna be a major service, but the SA said they just need to change oil/microfilter/wipers.

There was also a lot of road noise penetrating the cabin. After they checked that out, they told me that all my 4 tires are worn out [only 1mm left!] and need to be replaced!!?? Whats the life of run-flats anyways?

In any case, since tire replacement is not covered by any insurance that I have, the total hit comes to ~$1500 [parts+labor(replacement+wheel alignment)]. FUCK!!!!!!

btw.....i just a beautiful 335i in the showroom.

30k for tires is pretty good, i think. alignment is unnecessary unless you feel a pull in the steering.

Edit: for $1500 I would ask them to put your old tires back on and get tires elsewhere.

I know $1500 is a bit steep. The SA told me that BMW HAS to do the balancing and alignment since other places wont be equipped to do it since the car is so new.

that's a bunch of BS.

Balancing: Adding weights to the wheels... has nothing to do with BMW.

Alignment: like I said, you dont need this unless your steering is pulling left or right.

You're getting taken for a ride.

wow 30k < 1 year is a lot, maybe your work requires quite a bit of driving. So have you experienced any problem for the last 30K? I figure it'd take me 2 years to hit the 30k mark.

So far....no problems whatsoever!!!! I am extremely happy with my e90. I am an aggressive driver....so i sort of expected the tires gettin worn out so soon.

btw......I took delivery of the car on 10-24-2005. So I guess you can say I have had it for a yr now.
