Need winter tire setup...order online?
I need to switch out my OEM RFT's since it's starting to get cold. Do I just order it online and have them delivered to my place and then take them to a shop? Or do I just have the shop order them for me? Any recommendations in north nj/nyc?

I got my Non RFTs from Tirerack for about $375 after mail in rebate, and they're rated the #1 ultra HPAS per tireracks testing. Then my local Firestone mounted and balanced them for $20 a piece. They give a discount for tires brought in from TireRack.
Most online tire places are running specials on winter tires BTW. |

I believe on tirerack during checkout you can have them delivered to one of their recommended installers.

I always buy my tires either from TireRack or DiscountTireDirect & have them shipped to my house, then take them to shop to be mounted/balanced.
In the past years the shop that mounts/balances my tires claims that they can save me the transportation of all the wheels/tires & sell me the same tires (any tires) for the same price I get them for online. I find it hard to believe as it is a dealer, but have never given them a try...

if I were you I would find a nice used winter wheel/tire set, you can definitely find one for 800+ 20 bucks to swap out the wheels.
The winter tires will cost you about 500 + About 100 to mount off the RFTs with the winters, and then another 100 to switch back to summers. Its nice to have two sets of wheel /tires.

craigslist is your friend.
a few winters ago, I picked up 4 almost brand new blizzak tires for like $300 and put them on my stock OEM 17" wheels. Any tire shop will mount/balance tires for you if you bring them the rim/tire.

Maybe the OP should just get those tires then, I agree the DWS do well in the snow, I had them last winter, they held up well until potholes blew 2 of them out.
