UK accent question on tv shows

So I watch alot of uk shows. Robin hood, primeval, dr who, being human, etc. But on Being Human the ghost girl has a strong accent that ive never heard before.

Just wondering if you could tell me which region its from? Its so strong that I have trouble understanding some of the words she says.

North West of England I think, Lancashire or some such thing.

More importantly, what's going on with the actors???

We had an initial series of this thing in the UK last year. The werewolf is the same bloke, but the vampire seems to have been replaced with a skinny weirdo and the girl isn't half as cute. These are the original actors:

Obviously they didn't want to do the remake for the BBC.

The BBC is a public service broadcaster but a little bit bigger and more popular than PBS in the U.S.

It was the original television channel in Britain and doesn't have commercials!!

But look how much so many people have to pay for the privelege of no commercials. I'd rather have the money in my pocket!
The BBC is subsidised by the British public and is heavily involved unfairly in areas which are in direct competition with commercial Companies.

Living abroad ... I fully appreciate the sheer quality and see the high regard worldwide that the BBC is held - it is truely used as a benchmark. One of the few institutions that fly the flag for Great Britain and you can be proud of.

If you believe in a free market, the BBC should be let off the leash to make the whiners produce better product, rather than protect the weak/bad products from the good one.

If you want money in your pocket and have the attention span of a goldfish, then gorge yourself wholly on "slightly exciting police chases 15" and "Pets are almost mildly amusing 55" low budget American bum fluff. 20 minutes of white-toothed filler with incessant adverts for the remaining 10 minutes. You would quickly miss quality programming.

Or you might not.

No way is that a Burnley accent as it's no where near strong enough. I know a bloke from Burnley who now lives near me and his accent is alot stronger than that.

She 'clips' a few words ending in 'Y' which is a Lancashire trait but then she also elongates her vowels which is most definitely a trait of people from East Yorks upwards to Newcastle (Danish influence). This left me thinking that the actress is putting on a Lancs accent or trying to hide a North Eastern accent.

If the actress is Andrea Riseborough? then she is originally from Whitley Bay.

Lol, I cringed when she elongated her vowels 'cos that's probably how I sound being from East Yorks, but then I sit with two Geordie blokes at work so I probably don't sound too bad really.

You'll find out soon enough little one (you inferred not I).

The BBC might well be respected in other countries. Why? Because they don’t know any better.
The current licence fee is about £142.00 per year and that’s a lot of money for most people in the UK. However, it might be OK for some people.
And what in fact does this licence fee provide for? In the main, big salaries for a few people.
The amount of good programmes produced per year by the BBC is quite low. But of course it does depend on your taste. I personally do not watch much TV except the news, and it certainly would not be BBC news. I much prefer Sky News or CNN.
It’s an organisation similar to the socialist ideal of a government run nationalised company.
i.e. run for its own benefit.

You start with a sweeping statement, then quote a lot of hearsay and end on the tired old "left-wing" guff .... probably reflecting your sources of CNN and Sky News. Bullet point, colourful news.

I'd like to converse with you more on this, but fear I would get old waiting until after the adverts for you to be "right back" with the real meat .... but getting more and more filler ...
