Good find.
Somehow, I think Shiv probably isn't too concerned with BMW knowing his car is modified. Honestly, I think he's trying to break it to see if he can find the limits of the engine/turbos/etc |

Good work. This is an extremely important feature for people in states like PA, where we have annual inspections and they check the readiness via OBDII. That's why I raised the question a few weeks ago about your O2 sim method for V3 (and at that time you thought it was fine as it was, I believe).
Anyway, this is good news. Did you say that the feature is able to be toggled on or off by the end user, since people who don't have or intend to get DPs would have no need for the trickery? |

Are you referring to the V2 to V3 update? I already have the V3. My concern is whether I need to bother with the o2 sim update Shiv mentioned in the original post. I don't have catless DP's and don't need the sims. Are the sims active with V3 whether needed or not? Does this mean that the front o2 sensors are ignored right now? Perhaps Shiv can clarify.

Shiv, I was unable to get a readiness code with the map you sent. So, still no inspection. Please respond to my email from 2-3 days ago. I have a feeling what you sent me wasnt exactly what you thought you sent me ?

Ive been told you can verify O2 readiness with a decent code reader that has buttons on it. Unfortuantely the C-reader I have wont cut the mustard.
My question is, once I track down a decent reader.... what exactly do I have to do to check 02 readiness? Edit-- Out of curiosity, has ANYONE successfully done an OBDII Emissions Inspection with any type of O2 sims? Last edited by M3to335; 05-07-2008 at 02:21 PM.. |

1) Drive 50 miles. 2) Drive 150 miles. 3) This one is a doosey!!! 1. Engine cold start, idling, approximately 3 minutes. Evaluated: 2. Constant driving at 20 to 30 MPH, approximately 4 minutes. Evaluated: 3. Constant driving at 40 to 60 MPH, approximately 15 minutes (sufficient vehicle coast ing phases included). Evaluated: 4. Engine idling, approximately 5 minutes. Evaluated: NOTE: The diagnostic sequence illustrated above will be interrupted if: • Secondary Air System • Evaporative Leak Detection (LDP Equipped Vehicles) • Oxygen Sensors - Achieved “Closed Loop” Operation • Oxygen Sensors - Response Time and Switching Time (Control Frequency) • Catalytic Converter Efficiency • Oxygen Sensors - Response Time and Switching Time (Control Frequency) • Tank-Leak Diagnosis (DM TL Equipped Vehicles after KL 15 is switched OFF) Vehicle Speed Time • The engine speed exceeds 3000 RPM. • Large fluctuations in the accelerator pedal position. • The driving speed exceeds 60 MPH. In other words, still no dice getting 02 readiness or catalyst readiness after driving around for a while. This is a dumb question, but does a fully catless car react differently then a partially catless car? Do I need a different map then what you used to get a readiness signal??? |

Hmm something isnt right with either a)my car or b)the map im running for a partially catless car. Im willing to try whatever at this point just so I can keep my car on the road legally.
Id rather chat offline about this or give you a ring. Can you PM me a # to reach you at? |

Hey Shiv,
I still get a SES light even with your o2 set up. I tried the BMS o2 fix and had the same issues. The codes Im getting come together and they are: 0041 and 114b. Any more things I can try. Im totally catless. Vince |

Depending on the codes you probably need weaker or stronger simms. With shiv's setup you would need a different resistor, with the BMS setup he would probably just send you out a new set depending on the codes thrown.

im getting codes p2096 p2098 p2270 and p2272. All codes are O2 codes. Will shiv's V3 fix this issue?
I only get the codes when im cruising at about 70MPH for about 15 minutes on my way to class on the highway. Any ideas??? I have Terry's o2 simms but they dont seem to be working?? Also tried different resistors from Terry. |
