Brit police went crazy?

Ok, for the past 2-3 weeks, I have just seen soooo many police stopping people on the motorway.

i go up to derby & leicester every weekend, n in each jouney, i see people get stopped for more than 5 times. how unusual is that? although, i didnt see them speeding but probably, they were. but the thing is i never thought that it is always how the police do things? is there some kind of new police internal scheme to catch as many people speeding as possible to get bonus?

im not suggesting speeding or anything but im just amazed about how frequent they now go out and stop people speeding! n no one dares driving over 75 mph now

even driving an m3 can b very boring

Depends where you go. Different forces have different approaches.

That said, I was suprised to see two speed traps on the M40 the other day, which is normally pretty safe.

A lot of forces will now have Anpr operations on busy roads so the people stopped probably wont have been speeding they will be the Tw*ts that dont have any insurance. You shouldnt get bothered upto 85mph on the motorway

I've seen LOADS of unmarked cars on my trips up and down the M1 (Derby to Heathrow) recently.

I've also noticed that the cars are getting more stealthy as well as they don't now have the protrusion of antennae on the boot.

how do they know if those people have insurance or not? do they just check every single car they see??

just being curious, whats the penalty for not having insurance?

but their policy is working because i no longer drive any faster than 77 mph...

ANPR will automatically read the plate and report things like no insurance on the vehicle (not whether the driver in it is insured, mind), MoT expiry, licence status of the registered owner, stolen/wanted information, numberplate validity (i.e. illegal fonts) etc etc. So, in theory, they just stop the ones that they know have something up with them...which concerningly for those of us who are legal is around 8-10% apparently.

Most forces operate the "10% + 2" rule these days, so 80mph in theory puts you in the crosshairs, but in practice there's no black and white as if you're driving safely/sensibly at 85ish they'll most likely leave you and yank the lane-weaver doing 70-75 with his eyes shut..

I was cheeky enough to overtake the cops on the motorway the other day. They were doing 70.0mph with a convoy of scared motorists behind them not knowing what to do. I led the way and opened the floodgates

Loads dont have insurance. If you are caught you get a £200 ticket your car gets removed you then have to buy ins to get your car back and you get 6points.

Or most scumbags with no insurance just don't bother paying for the car back and it just gets crushed.
