Thanks! Unfortunately the modifications will take a bit more time on the M3 than they did on the 335 or any of my past cars. Mainly because this car cost a bit more than i was planning to spend (and prices on parts seem to be higher too), so a lot of the mod money I had went towards the downpayment instead.

But so far, exhaust and CSL trunk have been installed, and coilovers are up next. Went with an Encore Innovations titanium exhaust which sounds heavenly. Considering the stock M3 is very quiet, it took a little getting used to the first week or so. (i hate to say it, but the stock 335 exhaust sounds better than a stock M3 in my opinion). I'm sure the neighbors hate it in the morning (especially since I warm the car up around 6:30am and the M3 is pretty loud on cold starts), but so far Kirkland PD doesnt seem to have a problem with the noise, so thats a plus!

Purchased KW V3 coilovers over the weekend which should be shipped out today. Hoping to have those installed within the next few weeks. Pretty excited to eliminate the wheel gap.

New wheels are what's going to take the longest. Saving for our wedding right now so dropping $5-6k on new wheels isnt really in my budget. Wedding is now only 3 and a half months away though, so I'm hoping to have new shoes for the M3 sometime later this summer!

For the short version of my response, just read the first paragraph and the last paragraph. If you're bored and have time to kill then read the rest of it

Audi vs. BMW will always be based on personal opinion because they are pretty different cars that both have different positive and negative qualities. I'm an Audi person at heart and came very close to buying an S5 instead of the M3, and we still have an S4 in the garage as well.

For me, if we didn't have the S4 already, I would have never even considered getting the 335 in the first place (and therefore would have never ended up with the M3 either). But since I have the S4 to drive in the winter (with Quattro, obviously) I didn't have a need for an all wheel vehicle so I was purposely looking for a RWD car (Porsche or BMW).

When it came down to buying something in March when I got the 335, it ended up being a situation where I had to buy a car that day, and at the time, the 335 was my only option. If I would have had the time to take my time finding the right car, who knows what I would have ended up with.

With that said, I'm glad I was rushed into buying the 335. I loved everything about it aside from the color, and buying the 335 is the only reason why I even upgraded to the M3 in the first place. I used to be all about looks and luxury (thus I was an Audi person), and didn't care about engine/performance/go fast. My moto was "low and slow". That all changed when I got the 335, and I now have a love for the power.

All said and done when comparing Audi vs BMW, the biggest difference is the power/performance and the interior quality. Audi blows BMW out of the water when it comes to the interior, but BMW wins in the performance column. So on the end, it really comes down to personal preference.
Perfectly stated comparison.

I agree. We have a Q5 and (old and new) X3, and while the X3 is faster, the Q5 is definitely more comfortable to be in for long periods by a landslide. We use it as our winter workhorse / road trip car.

My 3'er is a daily and occasional track car. I can't wait to get an M3 like you did though. I'm sure you have tons of fun with it. BTW make sure you remind your fiance he's a lucky guy, often.

Oh for sure, it's a blast to drive. A little too much fun though, so i'm bound to get in trouble one of these days.

Driving the E30 today and it definitely took a little getting used to this morning! I havent driven it since summer and i forgot what it's like. My left leg is getting a good workout today though, the clutch feels like it weighs 200lbs compared to the M!

And I will make sure to remind my fiance he's a lucky guy, but I'm also a very lucky girl.

I can't take credit for it, a friend of mine on another forum has used it a few times so i had him send it to me for this thread. PS, noticed your location - how long have you lived in Bham? I grew up there

And for a little update - suspension is hopefully going to be installed next week and i am (hopefully) buying some wheels tonight. If all goes as planned, the M3 will be coming along quite nicely

Bellinghamster roots eh? I've lived here for about 8 years... grew up in Anacortes, went to school in bham and built a social life up here then decided to stay put! Looking forward to M3 pics!

Ahh, i see. I grew up in the Ham but moved down to the Seattle area about 8 years ago now. I'm still up there a lot though (my family and most of my friends still live there), so i'm sure we're bound to cross paths at some point or another.

Well it's so slow around these parts, figured i'd give an update.

EI exhaust installed:

Had my CSL trunk repainted, carbon roundel replaced with the stock blue and white, and M3 emblem removed:

Cleaned up the front bumper a bit. Looks sooo much better without the eye-sore amber side markers!

KW V3 coilovers came in the mail

Coilovers were promptly installed. Goodbye wheelgap

Stumbled upon these and couldnt resist. 20x9.5 and 20x11 HRE 545's. It'll be a while before they go on the car though. I'll be refinishing (and possibly widening), and putting new rear tires on first. But in the meantime, they add a nice touch to the stack of wheels and tires that are currently in the garage.

And lastly, my E30 is almost back in summer mode so wave if you see me! Dont mind the lack of rear apron/bumper and front lip. New lip has been in the garage waiting for paint (for way too long now), and I finally found a rear apron so both will be painted and installed (hopefully) soon-ish.

That's all.... For now.

Cheers
