as far as i know when i press that voice button on the steering wheel i only get one option

It sounds like it's a hardware feature and new models will only be able to take advantage of it. Read this:

As an owner of a 2011 I sure hope we can manage a retrofit.

My 2013 335is is coming in Aug with BMW Apps, I hope I will be able to get this function since they haven't announced the 2013 specs yet.
