BTW...I addressed the paddle shifters issues not working on newer models! Now all N54 AT cars that get flashed over will have paddles working!!!!!!!!!!

That is awesome, I use my paddles all the time. I don't thing I've ever let the car shift on it's own lol.

Weird partial throttle shift issues

Posting this to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue after the update? I'm working with Jake from PTF on a map (great customer service by the way!). After the TCU update the car shifts very well on full throttle, near redline runs from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, etc. However, we are seeing some weird behavior on shifts with medium to fairly heavy partial throttle. Let's say 60-70% throttle, shifting around 5K. Timing is being pulled big time and there is a definite "stumble". I'm including a log of the behavior (not sure how to attach the csv file)

Jake hasn't messed with the tables that are affecting the areas where this is happening. Anyone else notice this behavior or can anyone else please test this out? I honestly don't know if it was happening before the AT update or not.

Car is a 2008 e92 xi with AR DPs, AMS FMIC, AFE intake, stock catback, Cobb AP, Forge DVs.

Im gonna say... diverter valves (i have no experience with the modded engine and your timing, but the boost looks too high with the given throttle position during shift)

Honestly just driving around testing partial throttle. I had a short run near my house so I wasn't full throttle and noticed it shift really funny. So I tried it a few more times and realized the behavior is the same every time.

Hmm, it appears boost was only 10 psi at the point of shifting.

I had the same problem since August of last year. Positive to negative drops, post shift. cobb says they have been working on a fix since I have no idea....

I can probably dig up about 100 logs that look just like it. Some call it normal, but I don't agree. (Although you are overshooting boost).

Good new B&Gs... The 511B Error code the MSD80 cars are getting is a know erroneous fault caused by an error in a diagnostic software. SI B 24 11 06 Below is the SB.

So, for those under warranty, if you think your dealership is smart enough to know you are running the Alpina code, don't flash. (just kidding) It stays in you flash history, but very unlikely anyone would ever notice because it just looks like a normal flash. My car already has three different assembly numbers applied to the EGS. Two from the dealership and one from me . I actually flashed back to OEM today to see if the code goes away and ended up pulling off to the side of the road and flashing it back because the OEM code sucks so bad I couldn't stand it.

Did you check your INPA to make sure the flash actually took? I mean there were many cases in which the flash session went fine and no errors yet the assembly line didnt transfer over..Check with INPA to see if your assembly line ZB number is 7615835 with hardware part number 7591971..

Is it possible for there to be any difference in the coding between the xi and rwd?

Actually, now that I am paying attention to the details, the throttle looks to be the problem, which should close partially prior to the shift, then the timing change should occur during the shift with reduced throttle.

Since the throttle close looks to be a few data points behind, this may be either a tune issue, or a trans mapping issue.

I had two cars flashed that went to COBB for the custom mapping for their cars and both had no issues. I also flashed over this Alpina B3 software to many others running Procede and Cobb and no hiccups...The only issue was from one car running JB5 ISO but I think there might be issues with hardware on his car..

I didn't, but I'll check it. I didn't get any codes, it's been shifting fine other than this issue (normal driving in D, full throttle redline shifts, etc), and the display changed to D, S, M like everyone said it would so I assumed it was all good.

I'll probably pass this on to COBB as well and make sure they know about the issue. Hoping it's tune related and not something mechanical.

checking the version is right is the first thing to do after flashing the TCU

JB ISO is not an issue. I have flashed multiple cars with PROcede, COBB, and JB. The only car I haven't done yet is GIAC. I'll give Thomas a call today and see if he has a test car we can flash.

I'm running the BMS flash/ JB4 G5 ISO and all I can say about this TCU flash is WOW!!!!!!!!! Literally night and day difference in the way the car drives, shifts, rev matches, ect... It literally transformed the car in my opinion and makes me feel like I just got my first tune put on my car! It DID also clear up the 5th gear issue some of us were having.

I do suggest that if you are going to do it yourself then make sure you REALLY REALLY know what your doing because it might sound like a walk in the park but in reality you have to have ALL the CORRECT software downloaded to your computer and know a thing or two about coding in general. I had a buddy of mine that does coding for me as well as alot of other people on the forum in the Dallas/Fort Worth/Texas area that I let flash mine which to him was literally as simple as the directions are. I called Wedge and let him talk to my buddy and they started almost speaking different languages with there computer "lingo" that I had NO idea what they were talking about lol !! So def know what your getting into unless you want headaches

Anybody in the DFW area that wants this done is more than welcome to PM me and I can get you in touch with my buddy so you dont have to screw your tranny up

Once again, Thank you cn555ic and Wedge1967 for coming across this somewhere on the internet and sharing them with the community. Every AT car should look into doing this, tuned or not. and Wedge1967, I appreciate you taking your time to talk to me a few times this past week! It was a pleasure speaking with you and I'm sure we will stay in touch Cant wait to see how you do at the upcoming shift sector event!! Wish I could be there!!

I want this! I don't know how to code and don't have any of the tools to do it. Who in Los Angeles can do this?

Amazing work to everyone who figured this out.
