1. Right balance of back-pressure and freeflow
2. light-weight
3. tip options - i.e. carbon fiber, stainless, quad
4. noise level should be the same...until its floored - but even then, it should NOT sound raspy. Maybe make it sound like the M5 exhaust note when in "M" mode.

Not sure I'll even go so far as to get an exhaust system, but I'm all for the blending in factor till I want to take charge and floor it

Carbon fiber tips = a NO NO

but i believe he was just stating things that popped into his head?
anyways, either stainless steel or Titanium! but im sure titanium will drive up the price.

adding on to the other posters that stated performance first...

i think all aftermarket exhaust will improve flow over the stock but the question is how much better will the vishnu be compared to a Supersprint, a Reamus(sp error), active autowerks, etc with the consideration to pricing as well. sound+performance are obvisouly the key components. but a killer sound, with minor hp gains is acceptable to me, i dont expect to get 50hp with a classy exhuast note lol

Well, i've heard his exhaust and the magnaflows match very nicely.

Shiv you think you can get a sound clip up of your system?

Does anyone know that amount of gains from the different items in the exhaust? For example, the cat back system deletes the second set of cats, increases the pipe diameter (?), and changes the mufflers. Are the removed cats the source of majority of the gains? (or perhaps the mufflers are very restrictive.)

If so, someone might just delete the cats or replace them with high-flow cats (if they aren't already...)

Thanks!

As much as I hate to use 'Dinan' as an adjective, make it Dinan-like. Stock-ish when driving nice, loud and nasty at WOT. My friend's e36 328 with a Dinan exhaust is sublime at WOT and really, really stock otherwise. And omit the Vishnu logo on the tips. Most of us with Procede won't like the V-word present on the car in any way when we go in for service, Procede attached or not.

Shiv,

If it's true that higher flow reduces torque but increases horsepower, perhaps a high-high flow might make your tuned setup more balanced. I think going for 400hp and 400ft/lbs is a good mark.

Also, keeping the stock two tip is the most practical and economical. Maybe quad tips as an option, but a clean two tip... plug and play will be the best option.

Regards and best of luck,
Michael

No quads please, that is so M3 wannabe.

Sound: like stock, just a bit louder.

Question: Will there be a PROcede software update for that exhaust? What about other exhausts?

If I get another high quality exhaust, will my Procede still take advantage of the free-flow? with or without custom tuning (when are you coming to the Mid-west?)

If I get a cat-back system, then later move further up the exhaust path, will the Procede adapt or need to be reprogrammed?

prototype comments review

Hey shiv,

Well I got a mixed compliments on sound and looks of the prototype. Only complaints is passengers would here this buzzing humming at around freeway cruising RPM (2200 - 2500rpm).
But it sounds fast when you step on it.

"Stock" sounding would be stealthy....i like that. Stainless single wall tips, just slightly larger than stock. it would be cool if the "butterfly" valve could still be used....or maybe make it an option. All stainless exhaust to for durability....also lightwieght.

1. No drone.
2. Weight saving.
3. Moderately aggressive sound.
4. Absolutely plug and play, perfect fit.
5. Do not bypass/remove any cats.
6. No exotic materials, if possible.

It really doesn't matter if it makes 15whp or 12whp - that's not where the gains will be coming from on this car. As long as it meets the other goals...

And please avoid fancy useless things like titanium, CF and whatnot - you'll sell a lot more units if you can keep the cost reasonable.

Shiv, if we get an aftermarket catback or turbo back, will we need to run a differnet file on the procede?

Shiv said yes previously. A different exhaust will require a new map to fully take advantage of the gains.

1) Price - The price has to be reasonable. Why is exhaust so friggin expensive these days? It would be great if there were group buys on this too. It seems you already have a price set at 1600 from looking at your package deal for $3000 with the PROcede. I think 1600 for exhaust is murder.

2) Performance - Make it work the way YOU expect it to work on your own car. This way you will be happy with the final product on customers cars.

3) Fit and finish - Stock looking single pipes just a little bigger diameter. Rolled tips are nice and easier to clean. Theres a lot of people asking for SO many tips here its insane. Remember, you cant please 100% of the people 100% of the time.

4) Sound - Keep it sounding like a BMW. I personally love the sound of the Tri-flo on my M3. I dont like raspy sounds, just throaty and in charge. Even the possibility of removable baffles so people can adjust the sound to their preference.

lightweight - doesn't need to be titanium, but should be considerably lighter than OEM.
performance - keep the gains even, not all hp and no tq or vice versa.
fit & finish - polished appearance with perfect fit without needing to cut, drill new holes or other mods to make it fit.
sound - throaty and deep in low RPMs (but no drone), firm but loud and screamy at higher RPMs.
options:
- legal - should atleast have a version which can be used on a street legal car.
- quad - able to choose between dual pipes like OEM or quad.

i'd prefer to not have the company logo on the exhaust tips. also, looking into the pipes should not reveal the tips being welded onto smaller pipes, but the "shrinkage" from tip opening to the actual muffler should be even.

like this (although my keyboard doesn't allow the \ to be flatter, it shouldn't be as "trumpet"-like as this):

not like this:
