However... anybody considering this mod needs to understand that once this new controller is installed ISTA/P will consider it an incorrect part for any update/software diagnostic. Therefore, any dealer work thru ISTA/P will abort until you remove this controller and install the correct/old controller. In other words, before going to the dealer install the old controller back for any warranty work. |

Thanks! What exactly do I need to ask the dealer to do? On top of this issue, I recently had to replace my L7 amp due to water damage shorting the original one out. The replacement amp I got was used and works just fine, except that the fans kick on every time I open the doors and stay on for several minutes after closing the doors - really weird. Any thoughts if an update might address this issue too?

Per BMW directives, a software update should be done only for warranty work. Your relationship with your service department will decide if you are getting that update or not for this new controller issue. After all, that's not a part that "belongs" in your car. |

In the pic below in item 2, what is the hole for at the very end next to the hole for the new CIC type Idrive controller for?
I take it this is the one i need as its 08 september onwards for DCT but there is no space for the oval DCT setting switch? |

If your current console does not have that hole then why are you looking at the console with the hole? You need #3.

Back from the dead...
I want to put the Dark Glacier Aluminum trim in my E93. To do that and use the matching center console, I will need to upgrade the iDrive controller, which I would like to do anyway.
My car is an '08 E93 but was born in October '07. I'm a bit confused as to which iDrive controller to get (part #), whether it will be totally plug-and-play and whether I will need a firmware update to get it to work properly. Thanks! John

hey guys, I have a 06/07 built e90, and from what I read, from 03/07 it shoudl work. I plugged an updated idrive controller I purchased on ebay, and nothing worked, it didn't even light up, was there any updated I should be doing? I had my car "updated" by the dealer a few month ago when I had an issues with the car "jerking" at stop lights, they said they updated the software on my car and I'm not sure if this CCC updated is what dealers are also referring to, or is it a separate update? they told me they had updated all softwares on the car.
