I just bought a 335D and have recently gotten 3 SES lights. I want to get the BMWHAT app and the corresponding tool/connector that is compatible with it, but I can't seem to find it. My Google-fu must be off today, any help with getting what I need?

You may have to contact them through their website re: the bluetooth adapter. I think that any bluetooth OBD2 adapter works well with their app though (I could be wrong!), and that it is only the wifi adapter fro iOs that needs the special one from them.
For the wired adapter you saw on Amazon, you would also need this piece to go along with it: http://www.amazon.com/Original-BMWha...SMEECEKFJNKKKF |

I got this dongle: http://www.amazon.com/Original-Merce...PBJ5FH8ZWM9F5H
It arrived in 2 days to my house outside of Atlanta. If you get the BMWhat dongle, it has Dr. Mercedes printed on the other side. I'm sure they're the same. I will say that my PLX kiwi will read diagnostics and data stream, works fine with Dash Command, but won't code in BMWhat, so I ordered this unit. The PLX will be relegated to my 7.3 Powerstroke. So far, I've coded a few lighting modules, mirrors folding with lock, and digital Velocity. The BMWhat dongle has been in my OBD port for about a week. A red led stays lit, but I haven't had any issues (daily driver... that I bought to drive.) I'm bet the LED is probably the least of the battery's worries on thic car. On my E90, the big thing I need to code is the radio / CIC which isn't available yet. |

Sorry to bump an old thread, but has anyone been able to turn off TPMS with BMWhat? I was able to do it on my old MINI with NCSExpert but I don't see it on the list for available codes.

It looks like the latest update includes DPF Regens for certain engines. I get the "This function is not available for the current car" message. It notes that they are working on including new engines. It will be really nice to be able to initiate a regen on demand.

just got an email from bmwhat
Finally this feature should be active (before it was in development): -------------------------------------------------------- Diesel Particulate Filter Data and Regeneration • Regenerate your DPF with a button press • Live-Monitor your DPF and track the regeneration in real-time • Record the data and send it by mail, e.g. for PC-analysis ----------------------------------------------------------- question do frequent / manual regens in any way shorted the life of DPF or can cause some damage? |

Ok, just used the app after getting my adapter for the first time tonight. Wow, is all i can say. I have heard of this app before but didn't realize how good it was. The coding aspect is worth every penny along plus some.
Keep the development going and might want to put some more in app purchases to support the development costs. Or make the full version exclusive to the official adapter while the free can work on any BT/Wifi adapter. They need money to develop in the end. |
