WOW.. not even sweet 16.. you shouldn't have gotten a black car.. you should've gotten a color that does its best to hide key marks.. or do home schooling
Get yourself an Mtech kit, blacklines, 1800~2000 wheels, black grills, JB3. So if your parents didn't get you the car, did you win the lotto??

Go to a local meet and take a look at what other people have, talk to them about their likes/dislikes, and immerse yourself in the modding/tuning subculture

How many 335 with tuners have had their warranty voided. we don't have that data but I am sure its extremely low. My answer would be you pay to play but doesn't mean you should blalantly disregard rules. Just becareful and you will be ok.

Who is going to come here and say "BMW busted me"? I'd wager zero. I see more strange concoctions of stories to get BMW to repair blown turbos.

Wow, so who took it to the tint shop for you...since you CANT drive and all?
Also. Just an observation from someone studying statutory interpretation at the moment. The legal age of consent in CA is 18 (I believe...it may be 16 for some contractual obligations) unless you have been emancipated. Either way, YOU are not old enough to have purchased a car (especially a 45K +) car and signed the contracts for it. Secondly, at 16 you would have ABSOLUTELY no credit built up in your name, thus financing at any normal rate would be impossible. You cannot possibly expect anyone on this board to believe that you paid cash, in full, on your own, at 16, without any major financial gift or windfall, by earning money as a "DJ" (how can you be a DJ when you are not even old enough to enter a club?), without any help from your parents.

I actually know a guy who is a dj in los angeles at a few clubs. He works four nights per week and after one year just bought himself in cash, a loaded 550i, and he is 18. So to me, it is 100% possible that the op did in fact pay for his own car. He just could not have signed for it...

Ouch. 15 year olds can be so MEAN!
But, honestly, since it's your first car, I would recommend sticking to cosmetic and maybe handling mods before fooling around with the power of the car. I'm sure you've been referred to the events surrounding AmericanM5 either here or on the other forum you were on with this question.... Just be careful. |

So, let me get this straight. You work these events without a contract? Because you sure as hell aren't old enough to enter into a binding agreement with anyone. And if you are working these events sans contract, then you had better remedy that situation, and fast, before someone takes you to the cleaners for not covering your ass.
And just a little legal education for you. In the state of California, minors between the ages of 14-15 are only allowed to work a maximum of 3 hours a day on weekdays, and 8 on a non-school day, never to exceed 18 in any given week, and only between the hours of 7am to 7pm. The pm deadline is extended between June 1st and labor day to 9pm, and a child is allowed to work 40 hours when school is not in session. Minors under 13 are forbidden from holding a "job" in the state of California, and minors between 14 and 17 must obtain a work specific permit from the state before beginning any job. So, lets say that you do work as a DJ. You would have had to make approximately 51,000.00 (to cover your tax bracket, which is 9.3%) in one year to purchase a BMW and pay tax, tag and title costs (a little under 5,000.00 by a rough estimate). Lets just say that you did work all 18 possible hours that you could during school, plus all possible hours between June 1st and Labor Day. That would total 520 hours of work during the summer, and 702 hours of work during the school year for a total of 1222 work hours. You would have to have earned over 40.00/hr. Forgive me, but I am having a little bit of trouble believing that a 14/15 year old made 4X the California minimum wage. Not to mention the cost of purchasing all the DJ equipment and paying for the mods that you want/have. Enjoy the car man, no matter how you got it. Don't become a statistic. Its a lot of HP for a new driver to control, no matter how mature and savvy he (or she) claims his/her business decisions are.

Before you start buying performance mods. Make sure to see what software you are running with.
