Sunroof

Hello everybody, first time poster here

Am ordering a 320i coupe and i can decide if i want a sunroof or not.
It's a $1000 option here but its not about the money.
Could you give me some pros and cons for a sunroof?
Or is it to you just a matter of taste?

Thanks

Nice to be cruising on the highway with the roof open.

If you don't get it, one day, you're going to say to yourself why you didn't get it... only 1k.

The E92 coupe has the best sunroof I have ever experienced. No blustery wind, no buffetting, quite quiet. You can comfortably run 85mph with it open. It is VERY nice and well worth the money. It comes with a solid sliding shade to completely close it off when not being used. It probably steals a little headroom but unless you're extremely tall, shouldn't be an issue.

Kalimera, The sunroof rocks!
I got it in my E90 and I love it. By the way, don't count on the salesmen word for the delivery time of your car. It will take on average a month longer than what they tell you.

IMO a sunroof is something that many want but few actually use it. I think it's kinda cool to have a sunroof for the look and also one of those few moments where I just want to open it up (just for the heck of it).

If you live in a nice climate I would get it. Makes for a nice drive with the sunroof open.

Cons I can think of are added weight (high on the car), added cost, less headroom, added complexity to the car (SR mechanism can break).

There did seem to be a lot of reports of SR tracking problems with the E46, but I have not seen those same reports with the new E90. Just dropped off my two year old (end of lease) E90 and it had no prpblems with SR.

even with the sunroof closed, the light comming into the car gives the interior a more open feeling. I'll never buy a car without one.

I think so too, great to know I'm not the only one who noticed that.

If you are used to have a sunroof, then get it. If you're not used to have one, dont get it. Dont think you will miss it and use the money for some other option

Since you said money is not a concern, let me put it this way:

If you don't get it, and ever feel the need for one, then you're out of luck. Either get a new car or pay some ridiculous amount for a company to retrofit one and potentially cause many structural problems at the same time.

If you do get one and decide you don't like it, just leave it closed and never think of it again.

I have never had a sunroof on any of my previous cars, so i guess i wont
miss it if i finally opt not to get it installed.

The thing that keeps me from ordering a sunroof is the fact that
in my mind it makes the car look a bit "cheap". I know i may get burned for saying that but a sunroof is a relatively cheap addition used by many car
manufacturers in their middle-class cars in order to add them some flare with low cost

sunroof is a waste of money. just get a convertible. the only reason my car has one is cause its a freaking standard option in the US. i wish i could have ordered it without one like my e46 i had

the interior of the car always seems too small and dark without a sunroof. Even if you never open it, the sunroof still adds to the elegance and "interior feeling" of the car. i would get it!
