VERY DIFFERENT situation. From cutting a corner to gain an advantage over the last twp laps to going wide on the very first from the midpack.
Another quality answer - Consistancy is the name of the game and there isn't any.......

Now get back in your box.

Hate to admit it, but Carl is right. These are quite different incidents.

However, neither of them should have been punished.

This just goes to show how much the decision in Spa has damaged the sport. Everyone is now analysing every move from any part of the race if their favourite doesn't win!

It's sad - a sad demoralisation of a once noble sport.

ALso. Stick grass back there and people wont cut chicanes.... On street circuit stick fuck off kerbs and they wont cut them etc.

Ive still yet to watch the reply of the Alonso incident.

I agree more aggressive kerbs and gravel traps would discourage this sort of thing because drivers won't want to risk damage to their cars.

Hamilton actually cut the corner to avoid the kerb. If there had been a gravel trap there instead of nice smooth tarmac he would have had to take the more appropriate option, braking hard and tucking in behind Raikkonen.

Likewise, Alsonso would have thought twice about over committing if he didn't have an escape plan.

Image of Alonso cutting the corner (far right) at least a car width or so between him and the apex.

You have to say, looking at all that traffic, that Alonso had a lot less options than Hamilton. Any attempt to brake hard and slot back in behind the pack would have led to being hit from behind.

Just feeding the debate. Our discussions on here won't change a thing. Just like the guys who phone into Five Live to complain about blind referee's giving away penalties on Saturday afternoons.......

I think its good that the FA do not discriminate against the blind and employ partially sighted referees, particularly for the high profile games!

At the end of the day, he cut a chicane, and gained a position, which was what Hamilton did, so there should be a consistancy in the ruling and regulations. He should be looking at a 25 second penalty like Hamilton got - whether he had no where to go, doesn't matter, because when you look at hamilton's situation neither did he - rules are rules!!

There is no real argument here as they both cut a chicane/corner and gained a position by the next corner

But my gut feeling is nothing will happen.............

Sorry Carlos, whatever negativity you have for LH is clouding your judgement.

You simply can't get any more inconsistency in a sport that is wracked with the need (and greed) to get, keep and increase revenue and viewing figures.

This just supports my decision to stay away and pay this crass, corrupt circus little attention until the sport sorts itself out.

I feel sorry for the drivers who, I'm sure, just want to race and be treated fairly and consistently. I'd liken them to the footballers who don't care what's heappening in the boardroom; they just want to get out on the pitch and play football in a fair and square environment.

Whartever problems Football has with referees pales into insignificance with the Moseley Circus.......
