They are both superb cars that anyone in their right mind would be extremely happy to own. IMO it boils down to $ -- the P-car is a ton more expensive to own in the long run, factoring in maintenance, insurance, resale.... So think about whether you would rather have the 335 and take a trip to the Adriatic coast or Fiji or Chile or wherever once a year vs. having the Porsche.

I am afraid you are wrong. The three most impotant Italian car magazines rated the 997s between 4.5 and 4.7 to 62mph while the 335 scored 5.5. all over the board. US car magazines achieved better results for the 335 (5.1. to 62mph), but also for the 997s (I think R&T even achieved an amazing sub 4 time to 60mph). Therefore, provided procede allow you to improve of 0.3/0.5 sec, the best case scenario for the bimmer is remain side by side to the Carrera.

Big difference between a tip 4S & 6 speed S model. The 4S adds 180+ lbs., not to mention greater driveline losses with 4WD. If they don't know how to launch then that 4WD becomes a hinderance, not advantage in the straightline race. Are you sure you did not run a 325 hp 3.6L from the previous model year ?
Strange if you lose to a Z4M vs. a Carrera 4S, big difference in speed there (12.8-12.9's vs. 13.3's). |

it's funny how many of you guys try to use the phrase "335i with a procede can hang with XXX car, and is much cheaper"
reminds me of the topgear episode where the evo mr was sticking with the murcielago. why dont we all go buy evos then? or an ariel atom since it's "RWD YO!" want to brag about straight line speed? mustang gt with a blower. ZOMG!!! the magazine says I can lap donnington in XX seconds, and do a 0-60 in 4 seconds!!! does it really matter when I'm driving to work? the 335i has the right balance for me ,not super fast in straights, not super luxurious, not super beautiful, and that's why I want it. |

A street race against a stranger is pretty much a worthless comparison. You know nothing about their skill, car, etc. If you actually know the person and stage a street race, then thats a much different story.
Based on trap speed, it would probably take a Stage 1 PROcede to run a with a stock 997S. |

Magazines are Important in Italy? I have no clue why people even talk about 0-60 times. It's so lame! It's only a matter of traction in the long run. If you want to know what car is truly faster in a real world Street situation then lets talk about trap speed! I can make my car hook up and gear it to hit 60 mph in 3 seconds but that doesn't mean CRAP!
