Got a Vanos Inlet code accompany by half engine light when I ran V301 Stage 2+ Aggressive, however no problems with V401 Stage 2+ Aggressive. Any ideas? I searched and most people say clean or replace, but I find it weird how V301 gave it, and V401 doesn't

Fixed my boost leak! Stupid vacuum line from one of the diverter values to the Y-connector thing popped off. Popped it back on and it kept popping off, bought a new one and $1.05 later Boost! New Beta 4 uploaded (stage 1 aggressive) and .

IIRC some people saw the VANOS codes with V3x, MAYBE Cobb put in a fix on the V4x maps

so I finally uploaded stage 1+ sport and wow. My butt dyno tells me it can definitely feel the difference. Prior I was running stage 1 sport. I've got to say thanks to all for all the advise and things I learn from this thread (and forum).

yes, cannot wait. Also to documenting some Dyno runs (Dyno Dynamics). I did a baseline few months ago (229 whp average). Going to document different stages.

1. Baseline Run (as is stock at 42,000 miles)(Feb 2012) (229 whp)
2. DCI and Stage 1 sport (pending) (Serviced Spark plugs April 2012 / walnut shell blasting occurred last week @ 46,600 miles)
3. DCI and Stage 1+ (still need to get FMIC)(Pending)
4. DCI and Stage 1+ 93 octane (pending)

I'll share as my amateur results once complete.

Looks like Cobb release their Race Tune - Go to their site and look at the Blog

COBB Tuning is proud to announce the release of AccessTUNER Race tuning software for AccessPORT equipped BMW N54-powered vehicles. The AccessPORT is the only hand-held OEM ECU flashing, managing and monitoring device available for N54 equipped BMWs, and when combined with our free AccessTUNER Race software, the result is a groundbreaking, end-user-tunable engine management system with all of the sophistication and drivability inherent in the factory BMW ECU.

AccessTUNER provides control of vital engine parameters to the user, such as; VANOS (both requested and actual), ignition timing, wastegate duty cycle, fuel tables, torque limiters, throttle control, rev limiters, speed limiters and many more. Over 70 tables in the DME have been exposed and are editable through AccessTUNER, giving unprecedented control of the factory BMW engine management system. Customizable data monitors let the tuner choose which DME channels are monitored to see how tuning changes impact the behavior of the engine.

The software’s built-in data logging capability can capture data from over 70 channels from the DME, including; individual knock voltage for each cylinder, timing correction for each cylinder, VANOS requested and actual, wastegate duty cycle for each bank, 9 different boost related monitors and many more. Data can be recorded simultaneously from multiple monitors across the entire rev-range, allowing detailed data analysis after a dynamometer test.

3-D graphical mapping gives the user a comprehensive view of across three axis to evaluate where performance can be maximized. An integral dashboard shows user-chosen gauges to be displayed during the tuning process. The BMW AccessTUNER Tuning Guide is a great reference to learn more about how the BMW N54 DME operates and how changes to tables will impact engine performance.

Hey guys,

I changed my sparkplugs today and did new logfiles.
I did 2 runs (both attached as zip archive). The one I uploaded as ipg is the one with the most timing corrections. Both runs are done 3rd, 4th and 5th. The second run also contains part of 6th gear until traffic stopped me!

What do you guys think? Can I try the agressive map? Or should I change the coils too?

On datalog 2 you had some timing corrections on 3 cylinders. Before jumping to the aggressive map i would do two things;

1. Log a few more pulls. Try to make sure that the timing corrections are not occurring consistently.
2. if you are getting corrections consistently i would try another gas station or throw a few gallons of some racegas/higher octane fuel into your tank and see if that cleans up the timing. If it does, your dealing with some shitty gas, find some quality gas before switching to the aggressive map.

Good luck!

Thanks!

I'm already using Aral Ultimate 102 RON. So I don't think its the gas.

On the first run I had timing corrections on 2 Cylinders but not at the same time.

Maybe I should also use the new coils that I ordered. I'm not sure, but I think the ones I'm running now are the original set that came with the car 80k km ago.

Question Help with Log

Can I please get some feedback about this log...

Official Maps, Stage 1 Sport, stock throttle
3rd gear 2800rpm to 5400rpm (thats all I could do at the time)
91 CA Shell octane with 3 gallons of E85
Car has 17,000 miles and 3.5 years old, original plugs/coils
DTC was fully off

One thing I noticed from the data was it looks like I get a throttle closure in the middle?

I renamed the CSV file to txt for DL purposes. Thanks.

always load the csv file it is easier to read at a glance.

You have timing corrections on cyl 1 and 3 at initial WOT and on cyl 5 at 4300rpm, there was a major throttle closure at 4000rpm, on the CSV grapher I used to view it the boost was not listed because there we're too many columns listed (boost is last).

He's only hitting about 12psi, going up to 14psi then a big throttle closure to bring it back down to 12. Check out the pic I posted of his log. He needs to log timing as well.

What are some reasons for the throttle closure? I thought I did log timing, it should be in the csv file I posted. Thanks for the help, I will try to get a pull from 2000-6500 this weekend.

N54 ECU controls boost with throttle as well. if you overshoot too much throttle closes to bring it down.

This is what it looks like happened. Actual load surpassed requested load and the throttle blade slammed shut immediately after and the boost spiked.

How long did this map have to adapt before you logged it? It looks like the map may still adapting.

I have been driving it for about a week. However, On thursday I gassed up with a full tank of 91 only. Then last night right before I did this log I put in the 3 gallons of E85. The car feels like a BEAST, it drives good but I want to make sure the engine is running as good as it feels. Thanks.

A friend if mine just installed CP-E catless downpipes with stock exhaust . His idle and pre 2500rpm is very throaty. He is running stage 2+ aggressive. Is there anyway forvhim to get rid of that?
