Tire shop jacked my car up on side skirt!!?

Okay I got new tires put on this morning and it was at Americas Tire. They use those sizzor type lift which lifts the car up from its belly. By the time they were almost done changing, it was too late.

I noticed the front end of the jack ramp was sitting on the front jack pads for sure. But the ramp was not long enough to reach the rear jack pads. So it kind of just sat on the skirt on its belly.

Now here's my question. Is the side skirt belly area strong enough to hold like that? Is that reinforced steel beam there?

When the car came down, there was no crunch or creaks at all. But there's not much visible cosmetic damage from any side view. If I look all the way down underneath, I can't tell if that's just road debris or contact from the ramp since that part of the side skirt has never been washed, because its facing underneath the car.

Dude,

First off it's underneath your car, so unless you're a hard-core racer you don't have to worry about this part of your car.

Second, you stated in your thread that you couldn't tell if their was any difference, so if you can't tell, neither can any of us without before/after pictures.

Third, what the f' is America's tire?!?! Is this the cheapest place that changes tires? Or a place that specializes in BMW cars?

It has been my experience in life that you get what you pay for - I can only hope you didn't take the cheapest way out with a $50k sport coupe

Did they not extend the rear arms to reach the rear pads?

America's tire is a fairly good place for tires and service. They don't scuff rims (Wheel Works did on my SUV).

Seriously though,
America's Tire is like TireRack.
It is also known as DiscountTire, and it is a large tire chain.

Oh I see - then please ignore this point. I made the false assumption of thinking this was something like pep boys on the west coast

America's tire is Discount Tire which is a huge chain. They have one of the best services in tire warranty, free rotation, balance, and tire puncture repair.

This is why I never took my 335i to Pep Boys or Costco etc. Once you get used to it, it's not so bad getting bent over by the dealer!
