2 threads on same topic?
I answered the one in the 135 section.
The 5.0 is faster than a tune only n54.
It also has a lsd and will easily outlaunch a 135/335
With more mods, of course the bimmer is faster, but the coyote engine can be tuned for crazy power, even n/a.
Resource: drive a tuned 335, tried and raced a friends 5.0

On the street you will have a hard time launching against a new 5.0 from a dig. They come out of the hole hard.

Even in my z06 I need to put effort into the launch to keep up with them. Although a bad driver will make them look slow, which I think is the case in the above video.

From a roll they are fairly quick too. I suggest only running them from a 40 roll unless you are in an EVO/STI or something that cuts 1.7 60 foots or less consistently. With full bolt ons on the mustang they can trap nearly 120 MPH. Short of headers and they are at 117-118 MPH.

I've run plenty of them at the track, most of them are tune and intake and they're usually running mid to high 12s. From a dig I usually take a 2 car jump and then hold them there for the rest of the 1/4 mile.

not buying those trap speeds... 335s with meth and fbo can do the same thing by that token.

They trap 101-103 stock in Denver. But very fast cars at sea level and will always be able to make more pow than the n54 (if s/c or turbo). Just the way it is.

It takes a lot more than that to get me hard.

Back in November 2011, I ran one at Big Willow roll-on event. It had exhaust, tune, etc and made 451 RWHP (the guy showed me his dyno). DA's were pretty high that day so it was no surprise that even though he jumped the start and had an initial 1-2 car length advantage, I reeled him in quickly and the race ended in a tie. At the time I was running a Procede Rev 3 @ 16.5 psi PWM meth @ 50/50 meth/water, dps and dci - probably around 400 RWHP.

On the street from a dig, almost everything I run into has a hard time catching up. Sometimes they get me by the time I go into 4th gear... 1.7 60ft times arent reserved for Evos/STis

3.X 0-60mph consistently on pump + meth at 17psi allows me to enjoy many a cars' front ends from my rear view mirror. Its almost amusing how quickly some cars give up with how hard a 335xi FBO+meth can get out of the hole.

The track is a different story however... Depending on how much a person preps their car to actually be able to apply their power in a usable fashion.

AWD is amazing on the street. Particularly since most of what you are doing is zero-to-speed-limit battles. Of note, even a RWD 335 can be made to launch hard. I'm getting mid 3.X 0-60 times starting in 2nd gear with the 6AT. I even out-launched a GT-R a few months ago. The Wavetrack LSD and Michelin PSS are an absolute must for anyone with RWD and a tune.

not to post he said she said crap, but...

just last Wednesday a 2012 5.0 with exhaust, cold air and mild tune hit 385 on a DynoJet SAE correction factor. He was expecting 400+ as what his tune said, but you know how that goes.

I had to show him up at 400+,

As for track, I didn't see what he ran. probably beat me as for I never done a 1/4 mile run.

Very cool! Sounds like that launch strategy is the perfect way to mitigate traction issues for RWD. Did the GTR launch too? I'm impressed as hell, if so- launching an AWD car isnt the most difficult of tasks.

I ran against one a few weeks back. He had a tune intake and full exhaust, I am FBO stock turbos running 50/50 meth and 50/50 e85/93 and I put 2 lengths on him from 20-100 ish IIRC.
