can i replace one tire?

hello, i have had my Conti Extreme Contact DW tires on my 335xi coupe for about 20,000 miles. i still have about 10,000 miles worth of tread on my tires. i just hit a pot hole and my front passenger side tire was destroyed. can i just replace that one or do i have to replace all four? can i replace just the front two? i dont know if replacing just one tire will screww up the x-drive or something. thanks

Its better to do it in pairs(2x2) at least as with the thread depth the characteristics of the grip change as well. If you have to do one, try to find a used with comparable thread depth and same model. Somebody can correct me if I am wrong on this one.

All of the above is sound advice. Mixing tires, even if it is the same make, can be dangerous in different weather conditions. Also there is a break in period with every tire. The rubber contacts the road differently after 200 miles. Stay safe.

thank you for your replies. i'm not worried about the grip differences. I just want to know if its bad for the xdrive to have the different tread wear
