Should I CPO my 2009 335?

Hey Guys,
My 2009 335 fully loaded 6-speed m-sport lease is up in may. I am going to buy it off lease and I'm wondering if CPOing it is worth it. I have not had any major problems, changed oil at 5K mike intervals, and the car only has 27K miles. They want to add 2350 to the lease buyout price to offer me the CPO warranty and I have to do 2500 dollars of repairs - 1 tire is plugged but is fine, 2 rear tires have enough tread for the summer but they want them changed now, 2 rims have slight cracks (damn NY streets) on the indie lip which I'm having repaired regardless of CPO. Wold you guys pay this much to CPO a car that you are the original owner of and have not had any major problems with?

Warranty is better then nothing IMO...I just picked up my 335i....2008....has two more years of CPO warranty. Just because nothing has happened does not mean that something will not happen a few months to a few years down the road. I would get the CPO warranty

I think Im leaning towards not CPOing it. I would need to pay 4 grand out of my pocket to complete this process right now (2300 for CPO, 2000 for tires and other things which I can wait on if I do not CPO). I still have another year on my standard warranty so Im not too concerned. Can I add CPO to the car at any time before the 4 year warranty is up?

Just borrow someone's oem wheels/tires in good shape for the CPO appraisal process..... Then buy aftermarket. Easy.

Also, don't just pay your residual. That is negotiable. You can shop three dealers for a lease "buy out". I was considering buying my 08 335xi, the residual was $31K, one dealer offered $27K for the buy out. Shop your lease buy out and save $$$.

Good luck!

I was not aware of this! I thought the lease end buyout in my contract was final. If a different dealership can do better I may do that. Ill call some other dealerships and check. I am going to get the wheels repaired next week. There is a place by my house that will weld the two siny cracks in my wheels for 125 a tire! The stealership wanted 1100 dollars to fix those two wheels!

Here is what the dealership quoted me...

2 rims are cracked( 1frt,1 rear)…1070.89 (I am getting these repaired for 250 total!)
1 tire has plug…369.76 (That is the cost to replace 1 front tire)
2 rear tires worn…881.76 (That is the cost to replace 2 rear tires)
Alignment…195.00

That is all they found to fail CPO process. Still seems too much for what they are doing...

Yeah man, don't put the Service Manager and General Manager's brat kids through college with your situation ... shop around and save!
