Notes on a 2011 335is BMW Apps/Internet/Live upgrade
Customer has a MY2011 335is with production date 02/11, just one month before of the introduction of the BMW Apps.
This ends the bad news. Everything else is good news: this 335is had the iDrive and the Combox installed from factory. Thus after BimmerTech upgraded both the iDrive CIC and the Combox firmware and then installing the new video input for iPod Out the customer got his BMW Apps retrofitted... and more: ConnectedDrive new menu entry: BMW Apps: Facebook: Twitter: Web Radio: Pandora: iPod Out: BMW Live: News: Weather: Google Search: Street View: Internet: Notes: - BMW Live removes the Assist features from the iDrive menu, which include the BMW Info -Send Google addresses to car. The Assist Safety Plan continues to be functional thru the SOS button in the roof console. - BMW Apps requires an iPhone - BMW Live and Internet requires uninterrupted Bluetooth tethering. Some jailbroken iPhones cannot sustain their Bluetooth tethering for long periods of time. Last edited by Technic; 09-11-2011 at 06:23 PM.. |

Your Combox Media should have the firmware and coded to support Bluetooth tethering. Once that is done then set your phone to tethering and the iDrive to support Bluetooth data, that's it.

Patryk did my Combox/6NR upgrade several months ago. It works well with MyWi and my iPhone. My Internet and BMW Live features work, but I only have News, Weather, and Applications. How do I get the new Google features and such?

The answer? For those of us who live in North America, where BMW Live is not officially offered, it is necessary to change your settings such that BMW Live thinks you are in Europe > Great Britain. This seems to allow all the new Apps, with no other side effects. Thanks Patryk. -Michael

So I just recently started to really use pandora and I prefer it to Sirius so much that I may not renew my sirius, but want to start paying for pandora to have on my mobile devices as well as in my car. Problem is that I have one of the very first 335is models to come out so my build date is before this 6NR or whatever upgrade. I'm pretty sure I don't have apps or any of that stuff. How involved is it for me to get sirius on my car. do I have to go to the dealer at some point for software? How about hardware? Does my car have the guts to retrofit this? Thanks.
