I believe the M-sport edition has a higher top speed limiter.

Cutting right to the chase----after one has all the bits necessary to make it safe to do so, how would one actually go about getting the top speed limiter changed? Mine is at 130 mph I believe. Bought as bone stock D. Shortly to be totally reincarnated as a new creature.

Make sure your tires are rated for high speed.

For me it was tires and suspension. I lived in Germany for five years, so it was there I learned of these things.

@335dFan:

Looks like your d is ready for the Autobahn then. I'm a German living in MD. Did 131mph (ungoverned) in our VW Sharan TDi minivan with a family of 5 during our last visit to Bremen. The kids slept like babies in the back. Nice flat & straight Autobahns up north.

Come to think of it, Euro spec bummers are governed to 250km/h which would equal 156mph. Found that out first hand on my father in law's 635i. The HUD read 261km/h when it gently throttled back. The 335d would do that easily as well...

Is anyone with a 335D sport/M-sport coming close to ending lease or selling one? Let me know- I'm interested and looking. Phoenix area but I'll drive to get the right car...

I have a Msport 335D in metallic black with chestnut interiors. Here in LA, California.
Yes, I can confirm that the speed limiter is WAY beyond 130mph, at least in my car...

I second that. Before and after program, night and day difference. I can't even imagine the car without the power now.

Would likely cause depression.

Which tune are you running? Did you run a piggy back prior to the tune? I'd love to hear some anectdotal comparison.

I have the evolve tune. Got it back over a year ago. Gets better mileage now and more power which can be a detriment in the winter but I like the tune a lot.

Never ran the piggyback. Went straight to the tune right after Concentric got tuned and posted the dyno.

Was the best decision for this car. It's how the car should have come programmed from factory.

Hmm, I have a 2009 and I thought it might be an M-sport? HAs the 193 wheels, seats, paddle shifters, and seems like stiffer suspension and a little lower than others. I can't attach a photo in here though.

Run your VIN through a BMW decoder and see what options were fitted.

If I remember correctly, the M Sport Package was only offered on MY 2011 diesel vehicles. I think people often confuse the sport package with the M-Sport package, which are two very different things.

Along with the wheels and seats, the M-Sport package cars also had sportier front and rear bumpers and ///M door sills. I dont think paddle shifters were specific to the M-Sport but the steering wheel did have an ///M badge on the M-Sport optioned cars.

Forgot to include a link to a VIN decoder, as Arnie69 suggested:

https://www.mdecoder.com/

If your car is an M-Sport, you should see the following option listed:

P337A M Sports package

Only 2011 in diesel. Other engines could be had with M-sport in earlier years.
