HPFP 335i
Hello all,
I'm a new member here with a 335i and would like to say thx to all the valuable info here. Recently I took the car over to the dealer for service and the service rep told me I have a high pressure fuel pump recall that needs to be changed. Has anyone done it and can explain the advantage and disadvantage? I mean the car drives fine, and the rep failed to give me an explanation of the recall issue. Many thanks |

I did apprehensively did mine after reading post after post of degraded performance. I got mine done in a day, re-installed my turbo tuner and I haven't noticed any loss in performance. You need to do this if your car is under warranty to remain compliant. If you feel you've lost power, just buy a turbo tuner.

Get the HPFP replaced whilst its under warranty as its a known issue with 335's. Ultimately it will fail, and if its not under warranty it will cost $15,000 to replace. Mine failed last year after 3 years... they tried to charge me for it ... but I told them it was a design flaw, so they replaced it free of charge.
When the fuel pump fails... the engine light will come on... either rendering it with only 50% power or if the light goes red... imminent failure. |

I got mine done because I noticed some symptoms of HPFP issue. Do you have long crank when you start up your car? That's what happened to my car.

If it is under warranty do it right away. Mine died 3 weeks ago after 2 and half years and I had to replace it on my own account for just under 5k.
BMW has revised their fuel pump 3 or 4 times now and the current version is most stable. The saddest moment is to have the FP die on a beautiful SMD!!! HAHAHAHHA |
