Risky topic!
Anyway what are you benchmarking the figures against? Basic salary only or basic plus bonuses, overtime, benefits etc? |

Think you would get more truthful answers if you asked "how long is your penis ?". Doubt this will work, Carlos .... D.

I agree... I would guess what you are really wanting to know is how much disposable income people have (after paying the essential monthly bills, mortgages etc) - how much is left to 'play' with for buying cars etc

I do all right, but my wife doesn't work (she looks after our 2 kids), so her tax free allowance goes to waste, whilst the revenue extract 40% of my income. If it helps, my car costs about the same as my mortgage, but I don't really dwell on that fact. |

My mortgage is very small, due to the fact I bought just before house prices went through the roof. The property also needed a huge amount of work done to it, before I could actually live in it. If I was selling it now, I would get 3x as much as what I paid for it back in 2001.

yeah i want how much you earn, if your basic is 50k but you get a garunteed 25% ontop of that then your salary is 62.5k, BEFORE tax
forget how much your mortgage is or car finance, people lives are based around whAT THEY earn, so some people stretch themselves others dont, if you dont wish to comment then thats fine... just vote in the POLL how much you earn before tax, excludig whether you have 6 mortgages or whether you dont even have one Carlos

well whether it is or not is now irrelevant, to be 100% clear of what i want from the poll!!
How much you earn before tax, forgetting any dodgy deals you may or may not do... your basic + whatever garunteed bonuses you will get!!

it is true to an extent!!
if someone earns 50k they wont be able to get a mortgage as large as someone on 100k etc.. so therefore depends how far people push the boat out but in theory the 100k guy can afford a larger house, more expensive cAR! does not mean it will be that way cuz the 100k person may be careful with money and want a small secure mortgage and happy to drive a 300 quid astra whereas the 50k guy may want a 100% mortgage and spends 1000 a month on a lease on a car?! etc etc! Carlos

I must admit I saw someone get flamed for a similar topic elsewhere, and understandably so....but I am intrigued as to how much of someone's salary they spend on their car and where I fit within that. Just out of interest. I tend to think I spend a large proportion of my salary on cars compared to others perhaps... The only issue with that is - once you know the %and you know what car they have you can work out their salary

PMSL!!
Carlos - I've no objection to this thread but it's a bit simplistic to say how much is your basic salary and bonuses! For example, what about pension contributions? Some people (not me unfortunately!) will have 20% of their earnt income paid into their pension by their employer. Company cars have a taxable value (car price incl options multiplied by the tax band %age) so that should be taken into acount as well. You also don't mention the self-employed? Anyway, good luck with the poll! Nohedes (6" when flacid)
