Angry Beware potential 335is buyers

Just wanted to inform whoever is planning to pick up a brand new 335is to check to see if there's any transmission fluid leak underneath the car before they drive it off the dealership. If you fail to do so, you won't be having a car to drive for 1-2 weeks. I bought the car on 10/16. As of today, its been 5 days since its been sitting in the service center. The process took forever, they had to collect data/pictures and send them over to NJ to get confirmation on the correct procedure to fix this. Just called my SA and they still haven't gotten the parts from BMW. It just sucks to spend 60k on a car and not being able to drive it at all.

This mess was created in about 3 hours.

Is this Manual or DCT?

I just did a 335is DCT and drove it 1000 miles, no problems so far.

So you haven't noticed anything unusual after the fix right? Because I'm debating if i should ask for a new car or compensation from BMW.

i can understand what the above statements is getting at, but it is the principle. it isnt right that a person spends that kind of money and has problems a week later. the problem is that "it happens" as someone above stated.

I'd start planting the seed with them at this point at least - if it's not 100% after the fix let them know that that's your position...

It was a leak. It's just taking awhile because it took them 2 days to get a confirmation from BMW NJ to either replace the seal or replace the whole transmission. After that, they had to order the parts for it. Its Day 3 since they "ordered" the part. I can't really do much but to wait patiently.

Good luck. That is frustrating. I've waited 8-10 weeks for 2 different BMW's to be built and delivered to my specs, and I can't imagine how I would feel if this happened. Heck, I tracked the ships and their positions daily when the cars were coming across the Atlantic ocean.

I would ask BMW to provide a replacement car with the same option and everything. It's a 60k car, they gotta be paying more attention to major customer-turn-off experience like this.

Sorry to see this happen to you, OP. Is this a common problem then? Wow.

As much as I would love to see you in a different brand new one, I can't see BMW going that route though. They will probably just fix this and reject any request for a replacement car. But it won't hurt for you to try, I guess.

Just think you could have a new Porsche and have them replace the RMS yearly. I think in 09 they finally fixed the Rear Main Seal Problems. In mine, I went through 4 RMSs and than said enough. All these machined unfortunately are made by humans. Porsche is a great car, don't buy one out of warranty; same with BMW..
