Need some advice on touching up paint.
Hi everyone,
I have a small paint chip (size of a pencil point) that I wish to touch up on my passenger-side rear door and would appreciate on some advice/inputs/feedback. In order to touch up, the procedure that I'm following is: 1. Clean and dry the effected area. 2. Clay the affected area. 3. Rinse/Clean again. 4. Apply Primer. 5. Apply Base coat (Jet black). 6. Apply Clear coat. 7. Make the paint edges smooth using a compound like Farecla's Total. (http://www.paintscratch.com/cgi-bin/...gi?ShowItem=28). Some questions that I have: 1. Is my procedure correct or am I missing something? 2. What should be the time interval between each step - i.e. primer->base coat->clear coat, given than the temperature outside is between 60F - 68F and conditions are slightly cloudy. 3. Is the compound mentioned in step no. 7 too strong? or should I use something else? If yes, can you recommend me something. 4. How long should I wait after applying all the steps to do a car wash. Thanks and I appreciate your inputs
