Yes!

Jeff could do a 1:39 with better street tires(no aero). We were on some old NT05's I think.

I am only good for 1:45 on street tires with a sorted suspension.

Just get the ER competition oil cooler - will solve all your limp mode issues, keeping it 250F in south florida weather. on to lower temp thermostat next.

I'd slightly rather have a 335i than an M3 as a daily driver but I'd way rather have an M3 than a 335i for tracking. Decide how much tracking you're going to do and go from there.

I assume you are referring to e9x M3 and high revving engine require a lot more experience from the driver to go fast around the track. I tracked my 335i at stock power for few years and can tell you first hand that m3 aren't all that superior, of course in the hand of amateur drivers, is actually slower, especially on shorter tracks. If the 335i is tuned the m3 would hot stand the chance.
