Hi

Been lurking for a couple of weeks. ‘Pulled the pin’ on a 335iConv last week. Now got the agonising wait (holiday season exaggerated) until delivery about mid Jan”.
The whole HPFP thing has me worried; how big a problem here??
On another note; I’m not seeing a lot of topics about the DCT ‘box??
What’s the consensus?
Gimmick?
Used mainly in auto or ‘Manual’?
I freakin’ loved it when I test drove it, thought it was fantastic.
Anyways, thought I’d say hi and I’ll keep the research goin’.
Cheers

Welcome. E93 335 = . What colour did you get? Any options? I take it you got the DCT by the sounds of things.

Dunno to be honest; dunno whats stock and what's not.
Bloody excited though, although a wee bit nervous about the colour combo.

Someone else in Adelaide on the forum has had a HPFP go, but it doesn't seem too bad.
In terms of the DCT, I don't really like it in full auto 'D' mode. It is Ok, but tends to drive around in too high a gear, however, you can always use the paddle shifts to drop down a gear if you need.
'S' mode is much better for auto driving.
Manual sport mode is definately the most fun, but I end up using lots more fuel and using lots more revs before changing ;-)

Welcome aboard, enjoy the new ride when it arrives

As far as I am aware the HPFP has not been a significant issue in Australia (or anywhere outside of the US). It appears that the US fuel, with its higher ethanol content, is contributing to the HPFP problems.

Congrats!

Unfortunately I seem to be the only one with a fuel pump replacement at around 6,500kms, about a month ago! Melb BMW changed it immediately... it's a wait an see now. Though the DCT is fun with paddles.

PS. Took it on the track got up on the straight round the 205km/hr with ease

Welcome.
From memory (so i may be wrong) i think BMW changed something with the HPFP for the newer models (09, maybe 08?) as there was a lot of early failures (06-07's) , particularly in the US.

re: the DCT, it's a great box. Although i suspect that the bulk of people who order them will use them in Auto mode, which if your using it for the daily peak hour grind is probably handy. I haven't read about too many issues with them, however there has been a few guys with M3's who had them go into 'limp mode', however given that was all under warranty i wouldn't be overly concerned.
