Nice numbers Jay......
you really should race Abids 1er, at least to quiet some of the trolls. and to whomever commented on the meth in the washer reservoir, meth will also eventually eat through your paint.

at some point im sure we will. there is an airstrip event coming up that abid told me about. we'll prolly do it there, which'll hurt me more... it'll really have the time to stretch its legs in a mile of accel

yup...should be ~160 on a mile stretch of accel depending on weather conditions. dont ask me how i came up with these figures, its a guess.

Its the best way to visually portray the difference in power bands and not just the similarities in peak numbers (pump asr 135 vs. pump/meth stock turbo 135/335 both at ~430whp) and what aftermarket turbo upgrades mean for our cars... If asr really wanted to make people believers thats what they would do, run a 415-430whp stock turbo car vs. their 135i @ the same power level... unless they have something to hide. EDIT: Read the rest of the thread... will they allow cars to race at the airstrip or will each person be on it by themselves for a top speed run? either way i'm looking forward to seeing the race in person or afterwards on video.

once i have that, i suspect a 5-10whp difference on the road at higher speeds. their 135 already has this system so at the moment it has a large advantage over my DCI.

Very strong numbers.
Just an FYI, I have done some testing on methanol percentages and can tell you running 100% is definitely a serious risk with a flash temp of about 148F. When you run any way, the flash point goes through the roof. If my memory serves me correct, 50/50 is about 650F and 66/34 is about 500F. |

also for the info, by flash point you mean when it combusts on its own? or lights on fire without spark? kinda like knock? but isnt the inside cylinder temperature higher than 650F? i know at high rev the exhaust gas temp is around 700C leaving the cylinder no? this reassures my decision on a pre mixed solution even more! thanks

The flash point of a flammable liquid is the lowest temperature at which it can form an ignitable mixture in air This becomes important if you develop a leak in the line near the engine bay or near the exhaust. In this case, the air would have to be 148F to flash ignite the methanol. 66/34 has a flash point near 500F, so the air would need to be that warm. The bottom line is that is a lot of room still. |

That's a nice big margin of safety with the flash points that high.

Flash point is a good idea, but if you thought of that as the only cause of detonation then gas would combust at -44* C!! The definition of flashpoint I found was the lowest temperature a liquid can be at to create vapors that are ignitable in air. Therefor flashpoint is not what we need to be looking at.
Octane is. Octane is the amount of pressure, temperature, etc. that it takes to create a combustion without an ignition source, i.e. spark! Methanol has a VERY high octane, which is why people use it to keep detonation from happening and is why it effectively raises the octane of the gas you are currently running. If you have a high octane mixture, it doesn't matter what flashpoint it has because it can stay stable much longer and under more extreme pressures. Methanol may be more volatile a liquid, but when it comes to using it to cause a combustion it helps because of its ability to withstand pressure and temperature better BEFORE combusting on its own.
