Red pipe changed for Forge version

Got this fitted yesterday as I keep getting a leak from the bottom seal. Went on well at the garage and as I have the Wagner FMIC too they modified the bottom clip to ensure a secure fit. Looks neat and tidy. I didn't use the steel jubilee clips it came with, instead I got some stainless steel ones. Cars going well no light and day performance gain but as light throttle inputs on motorways, it does feel more responsive. Maybe the new pipe doesn't stretch as much under pressure or flows slightly better. Time will tell if the leak returns as the bottom fitting does still use the oem seal but the fit was much tighter so I'm quietly optimistic

I've had one fitted for circa 6 month it's actually cheaper than an bmw oem pipe.

I was looking at the old red pipe a couple of days ago and noticed that it actuall reduces in size at the FMIC end. Also there is a metal lip inside that reduces it still further. It is certainly NOT a smooth pathway for air flow and from what I can tell the metal lip I mentioned seems to trap oil and that is where the oils seems to be forced through on the bottom seal.

I currently have no leaks but must say my car seems to have foud a new lease of life after getting 100 miles or so on it followingthe fitment. The response is noticably sharper in all gears and has more urgent feel about it when accelerating at all revs. I don;t think it atmospheric related as we are currently have some very hot days but my car is just totally manic right now and I'm loving it

Maybe the improved airflow required some adaptions by the ecu and it is all at a peak now

Think I need to inspect mine. It feels slightly sluggish off throttle.

I may have to setup the laptop and try to plot actual boost vs expected to see if there is an appreciable gap in that rev range.

My red charge pipe looks a bit oil soaked too.

Couple questions. Where did you order the Forge hose from, seems like they don't have retailers here in the States. Approximately how much?

Also, from what I've read, you have to reuse the lower seal with the new Forge hose kit. So if the lower seal is one of the culprit for the leaks, how will reusing that seal improve the fit?

Thanks.

I got it direct from forge on the website. It was under £100 including vat and delivery. I fitted a new bottom seal instead of using the old one. It comes with a double deal at the top from forge rather than the single one the oem pipe used

SI how has your Forge pipe held up? Did you have to buy special clips to hold the bottom in place?

That's where you can buy them in the US. They now offer them directly from the website opposed to ordering on the phone. Mine came to $165 after shipping.

The adapter was a pain in the ass to put on the turbo side, but it's still much easier to remove the hose opposed to the OEM version.

Just got mine as well and now I can't decide if I should replace the stock IC as well. That said, $650 for the Wagner IC is just too steep. If they dropped the price a couple hundred bucks they would see a helluva lot more orders.

$650 for a quality FMIC is pretty reasonable. Many cars that are not nearly as expensive a performance FMIC for them is substantially more. My Subaru as an example many FMIC's are nearly $1K and some are well over $3K.. So $650 seems like a bargain! Lol
