Cleaning O2 sensors

I came across a video on youtube where a guy was cleaning his 528i O2 sensors with light sandpaper and brake cleaner. What's everyone's thoughts on this? Is it worth attempting, or is this too harsh?

Where are the O2 sensors located? Are they easy to get to?

Not really a good idea, you should never use solvent on an O2 sensor. Also, E90s use widebands, that video is of a narrowband.

I had a service engine light and I just took brake cleaner on a rag and rubbed the black stuff off the O2 now the service light is gone!

Cool! I am in a similar situation.

I know replacing these throws a code, but is it as simple as clearing it with a scan tool, or does something need reprogrammed for the new sensors?

My brother replaced all four of them. We didn't have to code the O2 for them to work.
