resonator delete with stock muffler?

I've searched already with no results...

Has anyone ever gotten rid of their resonator while still keeping the stock muffler?
I know there's folks on here that have after-market exhausts with their resonator removed, and even some people that have removed the muffler all-together... But, what I really want to know is how my E90 would sound with only the resonator removed? I'd like my car to sound a bit throatier, while not being obnoxiously loud.

I have. Honestly, you can't hear it in low rpm. But around 3000rpm and up, the engine will roar like a tiger. Also when you rev it, you can feel/hear a lil rumbling.

It won't make your car sound throatier. You need a whole aftermarket exhaust for that.

I also have the 2006 325i and I am also contemplating in removing the resonator while keeping the stock exhaust. Can anyone else comment on the sound? Will there be a difference or not. Maybe it will make the car sound weird?

Need your imput.

Thanks!

I was told that the resonator delete with stock muffler sounds different compared to a 325i and 330i.

The 330i already sounds different without any delete compared to the 325i. Therefore when you remove the resonators on both cars, they will sound different.

Please confirm this fact!

Thanks

ugh everyone needs to stop being lazy and search, the NA thread has so little activity that you can find comparisons on just about every kind of exhaust mod you can think of

The stock res does not make a difference. with a 60 pound muffler on the back of everyones car removing the res. is not going to do anything but take and extra 10 pounds off the car. The only time it will make a difference is when you actaully have either A) taken the muffler off. or B) put a different muffler on Ex: Ikon, top speed, RDsport ect.

if you want to try something new just go down to your nearest muffler shop take off the muffler, leave the res in and do a muffler delete like Andrew@EMS said. its only going to cost $40 for instal and maybe $50 for tips and its totally reservable

now to answer voltron's question:

get either an Ikon or a Top speed muffler, they are the same design just the tips are different and get a res delete. if you want it lounder do mid pipes and it will sound similar to the bmw performance exhaust but more deep. ive done both of thoes options and im pretty sure its exactly what your looking for with out spending more than 600

Is the ypipe what replaced the resonator? Your exhaust sounds perfect! What is it?

That's what i thought. The OEM muffler removes all the sound. That is why i had to ask again.

Many tread claims that just removing the resonator and keeping the OEM muffler will make it louder. My mechanic say otherwise. It will not make any difference.
