Anyone running AR Catless DP + Borla Exhaust?
Hey Everyone,
I have a N55 335xi and I am about to install my AR catless DP. I am afraid that it is still going to be too quiet for me since I have the XI's secondary cats. The Borla website doesnt say that it has a exhaust for the n55, but I have herd that n54 exhausts fit the n55's correct? Also, will I exhausts fit XI or are they different? Anyway, I have always liked Borla and I am worried about the "raspy" sounding exhausts that alot of people have been complaining about. I tend to like the deeper more exotic sound. Is anyone running a AR Catless DP + Borla Exhaust combo? Their feedback would be greatly appreciated Thanks!

While I cannot comment on how the Borla sounds. But I would bet it is going to sound very similar to all the other catbacks for these cars, aside from Eisenmann and Meistershaft, they have more of a unique sound, the rest of the catbacks sound very similar.
The N54 exhaust will fit the N55 for sure. Also the catback from an I will fit an XI in SOME cases. Some catbacks will fit both, some will only fit an I. You need to do your research on the Borla to see. |

From my experience & having a borla setup on my prior n54, Borla exhausts tend to go toward the deeper "less-exotic" sound and more of a bass driven tone. Unless you're pairing it to a ferrari or super car I didn't really like the sound. It's smooth and deep with little to no crackles or pops (even stock does that). I suppose I'd describe it as more of a refined sound...if you're into that. But, who knows, maybe it's totally different with the N55? cheers.

I have a AR catless dp and the stock exhaust on my XI with a JB4 and am happy with the tone after I did the golf tee mod. I'm a huge fan of exhaust notes but I really wouldn't want it any louder. Its actually perfect. At cold start it is too loud but that is only for a couple of seconds. I'd wait before spending the $$$ on the exhaust and see what your thoughts are on it.

Get the BMW Performance Exhaust, or custom fit the 335is setup, best sounding for our cars IMO.

can't speak for borla, but i'm running AR catless DPs and a Remus Race axel back. Sounds absolutely BEAST. Deep, exotic note exactly what you described you want. I love the setup and wouldnt want anything else!
