Stock Subwoofer Upgrade
Has anyone upgraded the stock subwoofers (under the seat) by connecting them to an aftermarket amplifier? Any details on the quality of sound? Suggested power for the amplifier?

I did just that, they cannot handle the upgraded power.
75W RMS. They burn... I'm planning to replace them, still waiting for my order to be delivered. I will post by end of this week (I hope) my DIY on upgraded underseats subs |

Make sure you unplug your battery before you unplug the seat or you will get an airbag warning that will need to be reset at the dealer.

I have heard on other places on this forum that they are 8" and the Logic7 has 10". I heard from Bavarian Soundwerks that they are working on an upgrade. This would be a PITA DIY due to the seat removal. Does anyone have a FAQ on it? I would love to know if the cabint size is the same, to some degree, as the Logic7. That would mean we could replace them with Pioneer slim line 10" woofers...which would most likely sound amazing.

Mine are 8", I have ordered PIONEER TS-SW841D to replace them. Still waiting on the delivery
About the seat removal, I believe it's should be quite easy. For the airbag warning I suppose that if I do not start the car without seat connected it should be no problem. ?? still some question today, I will know for sure when I will do the job, I hope by the end of this week. |

PIONEER TS-SW841D !? Wow, I did not see the 8" version anywhere on the Pioneer site when I looked. I expect they will sound amazing. Please let us know how it sounds, and if possible, take pics for a DIY. Im excited for you! Get them in!
BTW, do you have the non-Logic7 system? In the US the standard system is a 10 spkr including 2 subs under the seat. Here is the link for those of you who want to know more: |

Not the case, you MUST unplug the battery or you will get the warning. Removing the seat is easy.

You need to replace the seat bolts with new ones, they only work properly one time, not saying I always do replace them but you should.
A couple of guys on the 1 series forum have replaced the underseat subs with the Pioneers, and reported great results. I just put some Diamond Audio H641s speakers in on Monday night, I have a nice Genesis Profile Four Ultra amp on the way and will try and get that installed over the weekend, just thinking maybe I should order the Pioneer subs now and do it all at once. |

I plan on replacing the subs and hooking it up to a massive infinity amp I have new in box...perhaps I will replace the rears with components i have lying around...
RE the kenwood, i read on this forum that the std stereo has 8" subs and the logic 7 has 10"...not sure if the cabinet is different enough to make it impossible to use the 10 in a standard. I just found these files on the E60 forum: The cover plate might stick out 1/2" with the addition of the Pioneer subs as seen in the installation PDF from Pioneer. Standard system has 6" and Logic 7 has 8". We just did an E90 with a DLS r6.3 kit up front, so the 6.5" under the seats, the 2.5" mid in the door and the tweeter in the standard mirror pad location and it worked really well.

Can you post pics please? Also did the 6.5" fit the sub location or did you fabricate a baffle in order to mount the 6.5"? Thanks.

Man, now I am really confused! I wish we could get an official part#/description so we know exactly what size we are looking at! I thought that the stereos were different in the USA Vs. Europe. Can anyone confirm the size of the 10spkr standard sub Vs a Logic7 in the USA?
