Vista
Anyone actually using Microsoft Vista yet? I'm installing the Ultimate version on the laptop right now.

i had one of them "windows vista capable" stickers on my laptop which meant that when it came out i got an upgrade for free... so i got a homd premium package through the post but they made me pay postage...
premium aint bad tho for £15 - but like i said, i'm sticking on XP for a while for work |

I bought a new PC in January and will be sent a free upgrade to Vista disc in March apparently. When I say free, it's going to cost £10 in postage...for a disc...
I see that there's an online petition on the Downing Street site, due to the huge difference in price between the UK and America. Computer Shopper forums have the debate for anyone interested. Cick Here

Its quite nice!! I installed it and at first wasn't impressed. It felt like every 2secs the system would freeze and the mouse pointer wouldn't move (Sony Vaio laptop). This was really frustrating!!! Anyway, got it hooked up to the internet and downloaded and installed 12 patches (some optional) but one was a Sony driver update for I/O devices...and now it works very smoothly, and I'm quite impressed. Will take a while to figure a few things out but yeah, its not bad at all

It also takes a while to settle down as it indexes everything on your drives so the "new" search feature works like it should.

I am running it at home and work, but at the end of the day it is just Windows XP with a fancy bodykit!!
Although - unfortunately the bodykit is badly screwed together and falls off sometimes and you also find the your old wheels dont fit anymore :-) Seriously though I find my new Dell core 2 duo with Vista business quite buggy. I have either a BSOD or lock-up every couple of days. XP was much more stable I think. |
