Advice on wet sanding touch up paint?

So unfortunately I had a couple rock chips that I tried to touch up on my e92 with the BMW touch up paint. Ya...... so it left a huge glob around the area as well as the color matching being horrible. So I have to wet sand it down. Any advice out there? I have purchased 1500 grit and 2000 grit sand paper. As well as megs 105 and 210 polish and scratch remover. If there is any diys I missed please post them up for me.

Roccob,

I have used 2500 and 3,000 grit wet sandpaper. However, since yours does not match anyway I would assume that you want to remove all of the touch up paint and start over. Simply use Goof Off which will easily remove the uncured touch up paint. Products like this are also available for eliminating excess touch up paint and are good at leveling out bumpy blobs when you do get the right color. Why sand off clear coat when you can just put a little Goof Off on a rag and wipe. This should not harm the factory paint at all. Good luck

Same thing happened to me. I left it alone though since I'm not sure how to go at it. It's been almost two months now though so I don't know if Goo Gone will take take off the touch up paint.

My advice to you is to leave it alone because that paint is fully cure by now. Trying to used a strong paint remover will do more harm than good at this point. If you know all about wet sanding, polishing and you have a paint gauge that will tell you how much paint you have left to work with then go ahead and wetsand and polish to level it out and make it look a little better, but if you have no knowledge about this things, just have a professional that knows what he's doing take care of it or just leave it as is.

I'd shave it down with a nib file before doing anything.
