AA tune for 328 = 330i
Raced a stock 330i today and was dead even. Mods on my car are minimal - BMW PE + Afe dry filter (not a whole intake).
That equates to (using caveman logic without factoring in gearing and other factors) a 25bhp increase. Not bad.

From a roll it should be even as the hp takes over (AA tune unlocks that hp up top).
But from a dig, I don't think a 328 will have the torque needed to get that jump (without a 3 stage). I was able to keep up with a 330 from dig with my mods (was actually ahead at the end) Nicely done btw :-) |

I did a few 0-60 runs last night with a friend on the stopwatch. My car is an auto and obviously the timer wasn't 100% accurate.
Full stop no throttle 6.33 seconds 2krpm launch 5.82 seconds Max rpm without wheel spin (~3.5k) 5.69 seconds Not bad for having a passenger also.

hahahahaha gold!
I raced a 330 a few weeks back and it was weirdly even as well. From a dig, I caught my fender in front and he caught up even quick. After a while, I started to pass her and her mods are: magnaflow muffler with res delete, k&n drop in filter and she also had fresh spark plugs (not a mod.. more or less maintenance) NO tune or piggy back. I have 2ndary cat delete, res delete and hks muffler with a drop in filter and subs in trunk (for added weight on rear tires to grip) NO tune or piggy back either. It was from a dig to 100 and the end was me leading by a hair line. Weird? O.o both had about half a tank of gas too and I had uhp tires vs. her A/S rft. I'm 6mt and she's AT

yea right.... For me it's pretty close with my 325i and my brothers 330i. But I'm almost a car length in front to 100 mph, his car is stock. What messes me up is when I shift too late because of the raised RPM limit, there's actually a lot less power at that range. But a least it sounds good when the engine revs that high.

The 330i didn't fulfill the CAFE ratings needed and didn't attract enough market share over the 335i to justify the extra costs. It was made to be an updated version of the ZHP from the e46. As far as I am concerned, for mods, it is so limited that I am happy to not have it. In the racing world, the 325i was always preferred over the 330i for the same reason. Oh, and with a 6MT, I have beaten my dad off the line in his 335i, he gets me in the end but that really pisses him off!

EDIT/ UPDATE: The intake manifold part number are the exact same---> 11617559523 (330i) 11617559523 (328i) I'm starting to love california's emissions law just a little bit

Did a quick search to confirm about the n51/SULEV:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34273 Also went on realoem.com and compared the manifold part #, turns out its the same. Only real question now is: will the AA tune max out the 328s' power to match a 330?? |
