Exclamation Ocho Cinco

Reebok is forcing Chad Johnson to buy all the remaining 100,000 + Jersey's unsold for Changing his name, roughly $4,000,000

-- Why don't they force other players who get traded mid-season?

-- $4,000,000 for 100,000 Jersey's?, thats like $40 per jersey...Damn! and the rape customers for $125+ at stores

1) Because it's 100,000+ jerseys

2) Being traded midseason is part of the game and part of the league, a name change is not.

3) Why $125 you ask? You are paying for the name first and foremost... Not the jersey. It cost Reebok a LOT of money to obtain an NFL license.

So many people have bitched about 3). How do you people not understand that it costs more than $40 to make an NFL jersey.

Do you think they are allowed to print those names for free?

I'm not saying that it's not a high margin business, because it is. But you people are overreacting.

Amazing.

Replicas cost around $75. Authentic's cost $180 or so.

Johnson is a fucking idiot, PERIOD! He deserves to pay it. Actually the league should split it with him for taking such a pussy stance with the issue.

+1 Being traded is beyond the player's control, therefore they are not responsible to cover the loss. Changing your name is not out of your control.

I think there needs to be a distinction made.

He is only forced to buy out the remaining jerseys if he decides to wear "Ocho Cinco" instead of "C. Johnson" for the remainder of the season.

Definitely attention whore.

A guy who always takes out cash before a game because he knows he's getting fined for a celebration dance loves attention.

Who changes their name to their number? An attention whore, that's who.

I love it when Marvin Lewis said something to this effect on Ocho's holdout "If Chad Johnson is a man of his word, he won't play this season. And I know he's a man of his word."

Anyone here a fan of Barry Sanders? He was a true role model....gets a touch down, never spike it, never celebrate...he has been there before, many many times, no need to let the crowd knows...

why can't today's athletes be more like him..

Both. It started a while back when he wore the Ocho Cinco onfield to 'celebrate' his heritage, but they wouldn't allow him to wear it on the field..thus why he changed his last name.

The first time I saw it, I was dyin' because it reminded me of Dodgeball..ESPN Ocho.

Bottom line is that as long as the produce #s (which both CJ and TO do) they can do whatever they want.

This league is about winning games....some teams have problems like CJ's jersey change, TO's off-field antics and on-field whining etc. but as ong as they get the Ws and the player puts up his stats they will just keep going on like nothing happened.

CJ is an amazingly gifted individual, and is a top 3 WR in my opinion. I couldn't care what his jersey says

Imagine he gets traded to a team that retired #85 (if any). He would have to wear 81, 82, 83 etc with Ocho Cinco in the back.
