Basically i got pulled over for tints a while ago. I pleaded not guilty. Anyone have experience about getting off with a reduced fine. I need a good excuse lol.

probably just best to pay the $45-$50 ticket and be on your way. I doubt they'll reduce the fine any more unless you tear off your tints, plus it's a no point ticket. At least that's the way it is in NJ.

+1

just pay the fine...
if you go to court and somehow get the fine reduced after they tack on court fess and all the other BS fees you saved yourself a couple bucks if that!
Not worth the headache or time spent in court. I'm speaking from personal experience...

Its all a racket for the city/town to make money... like ppl on this board say gotta be willing to pay to play...

I only have have my back windows tinted. I just think that if you have all tint, the cops have easier excuse to pull you over, which I don't want to get pull over.

i have 20% all around except windshield and I've been pulled over twice. The first time was 4 days after I got it done and got 2 tickets for it. Second time was just a couple of weeks ago but he let me off with a warning. Had my tints for almost a year now. I just paid the fine. Not worth the hassle going to court and all that stuff.

go onto the nys dmv website and see if you can still pay for it, or even call dmv in albany (head office) and see if you can. i used to have tints, and i get pulled over like once a year, but i just pay the fine.

I started a tread about getting pulled over for tint in NYC, it was a $90 ticket. It sucks..

the only excuse u can give is that ur tints are very very light
take some photos of ur car during daytime, try out diff angles to see which looks the lightest....make sure u can see the inside of ur car from the photos

its an equipment violation with no points.... not sure what your defense could be, all tint is illegal in NYS on passenger cars (excluding vans and suvs that can have their rear windows tinted.) the law is 70% visible light transmitted, tint that light is basically transparent.

Yeah i guess you're right. Its not like i'm weaving in and out of traffic or zooming along side streets which doing either will certainly bring anyone unwanted attention ??? Though i enjoy ....ummmm "attention" not from "police officers" with their ticket books and pens in hand

i got tints on my g35... the car is registered under my moms name... whenever i get pulled over i say this is my moms car im just borrowing it and the cops let me go with a verbal warning of "dont drive the car again." same thing every time. the best thing to do is go to ur family doctor and say you have sensitive eyes and you might be lucky enough to get a note allowing the tints.

If it's registered under your mom's name, it's your mom's car.

Too bad we can't use that excuse, cause the car is registered under our name.
