Whichever you go for, you MUST run the pads in for quite a few miles before using them in anger - as it says in the instructions.

I can't remember if I had Red or Yellow stuff on the 530, but there was a LOT less dust than stock. I used EBC slotted discs too, but I wouldn't recommend them because they are too noisy for the road.

I'd "just" done the run-in period on my new pads, when I did engage is some spirited driving and heavy braking. This heated up the (obviously remaining) bed-in pad material to such an extent that it looked as if my pads were on fire, along with a lot of smoke. What does one do in such a situation? Drive quickly to blow out the "flames". Worked for me!

I've used both.

The REDs were only good when hot, the cold braking was terrible, soft pedal and very poor brake force.

On the odd occassion you went on a good long blast and got them thoroughly hot throughout, the pedal firmed up and they were great, but that was only like <1% of the time.

Recently fitted Yellows with new discs and they are fantastic, such stopping power even from cold, firm pedal and great feel, I had to recalibrate my right foot to stop giving the passengers neck ache!

Again they need to be warm to get good stopping power above legal speeds, so don't expect wonders when charging off a motorway slip with freezing brakes, but for everyday and spirited A road driving they are great, very pleased with them.

It'll have to wait till the next trackday in spring to really test them

Obviously theres a lot of dust from running in and I haven't washed the car since fitting them so it's filthy, so can't comment on dust levels.

Neither go with Padig Blue's RS2's i think EBC pads are inferior. Ultimately it depends what you want from your car.

you are right, there are numerous better pads and given the choice i wouldn't use ebc, but none are made to fit 335i/d models.

i tried for ages to get some pagid rs pads, but failed, none available.

so for a 335 model its either importing cool carbon pads from the US or EBC.

take your pick.

The best combo I've heard of is OEM discs and Yellow stuff pads...

A good upgrade without going crazy!
