Walnut blasting/ intake valve cleaning....

Looking to see if any one has done this . If so is it worth the 6-700$ they charge you???
Cars about to go over warranty and i have a cylinder 4 misfiree.I've Had my spark plugs changed . Fuel pump changed. And I don't seem
To know exactly what the problem is. My tech said it could be due to the carbon build up ...

Any info please!

ive heard it makes a difference (not 100whp lol) but im actually gonna do mine myself since its always good to learn and gives me something to do on the weekend..deff wont spend 700 for the dealer to do it! But hey if you have the money and dont mind spending it then go for it!

Yea I'm really debating it because if they do it and it doesn't fix the problem then they have to look at it from every other point of view and see what's actually wrong before giving me my car.

Never a bad idea to clean the intake ports but I doubt that they will cause a misfire code. I would do the usual diagnostic to determine if it is the coil or the injector causing the misfire. Swap the #3 & #4 coils and see if the misfire moves with the coil, if not, it is likely the injector.

I've checked the injectors. It's not the f.i. Not the spark plugs. And it doesn't seem to move around the misfire only under full load after 70 mph. Consistently in cylinder 4

Did you already swap the coils around?

If the misfire did not move with the coil, you are looking at a weak or mis-coded fuel injector. I would look at that next.

I had my intake valves cleaned at a local shop with the "chemical" method, and it didn't come as clean as the walnut shell technique, but it was DEFINITELY cleaner.

He charged me $150

And the car has much more throttle response now.

Owner's name is Gil, he does AWESOME work, Takes VERY good care of your car, doesn't just throw it on and off, doesn't break tab's etc.

Im not sure if he would give you the same price because I was having a bunch of other stuff done at the time so it was kinda a side thing, but defiantly ask!
